Why is this game legal?

This game is unbelievably addicting. Moreso then a lot of hard drugs and I'm speaking from experience. This game is insanely overpowering. Snowballing triggers the same parts of your brain as heroin to release unreasonable amounts of dopamine into your bloodstream. Then when that dopamine high comes down there's only one thing that'll trigger it again. Snowballing in another game. That's why a lot of people take the game WAY too seriously and why a lot of players tend to get REALLY REALLY upset when they get on a losing streak. That may be the worst part too. If I'm not doing well on this damn game for any amount of time I feel like shit because I don't have the massively inflated ego I get from tons of dopamine getting released into my system. Literally every league of legends player I've met has had this problem even if they deny it. It's extremely visible and easy to see if someones doing well just by their attitude. This game shouldn't be legal if heroin is illegal. This game literally does the EXACT same thing to your fucking brain.

If you have an addiction to a certain game to this kind of point then that means there's an underlying problem related to you and how you control your temper than the actual game itself.

I'm a very competitive person myself and as such get very frustrated when I mess up time and time again and go on losing streaks. This is not because I'm addicted to this game as it happens regardless of game but moreso a problem with me as a part of growing up with my dad who would blow up on anything and anyone if he was mad. That said, I know when to just stop playing and take a break to try to cool off and maybe just play another game instead, something that it sounds like you're either unable or unwilling to do.

If the game is causing you this much stress then quit. There are plenty of other games out there to play that likely won't cause you as much stress as this one apparently does.

But like, everything your brain perceives as positive does that. The difference here is that heroine is a chemicle that you have to put into your body that you grow a physical dependence on and that has other severely negative impacts on you.

Try Everquest - they call it EverCrack for a reason - way more addictive than LoL

Dude you don't need a forum you need a doctor..

if you have an addiction to playing internet games, that means some one else is paying your bills.

eventually you'll get thrown out.

Bigger problem is riot is so pussy about their report system. Hyper competitive games that go on for 30 minutes and you got a dumbass whos weighing the team down doing dumb shit and you cant tell him he's an idiot.

How is this logical in any sense?

Bright Claws6/2/2018, 5:36:37 AM2 votes

Tbh, its not that addicting. I usually only end up playing if I'm trying to get win of the day or I'm waiting for something else, these days. Like if I'm playing another game, I don't like to rush through it. I switch it up and or take a break/walk outside for a little.

So does that mean video game in general should be illegal? My friend was stuck on Persona 5 for a while. Should Persona 5 be made illegal? I spend so many hours on Monster Hunter. Same with Hyrule Warriors. Should those games be illegal? Why are you focusing just on League of Legends?

If this game is to be outlawed, then so will all forms of games, sports, or simple exercises (and chocolates but let's not go there), and many other things. If you don't know, all of those things make you high through the stimulated production of mental stimulates in your body (or in the case of chocolates, it naturally contains small doses of those things, and in the flavour of making a person aroused).

The reason why "hard" drugs are outlawed, is not because it's "unbelievably addicting". But because it's BOTH addicting and destructive of a person's both mental and physical health as well as their fiances, and not only that but also be all of those things while being OUT OF THE PERSON'S CONTROL after the first contact or 2, due to the direct, strong, and forceful coercion of and possible permanent damages to the person's nervous system and functionality by the hard drugs.

Let's see how League, or again, games and sports and many "normal" things in the same vein, fair up against that.

Not to mention the elephant in the room (though has been mentioned in the second paragraph), hard drugs can and far more often than not, critically and fatally harm its user directly, which League can't; unless you die from the pain of carpal tunnel syndrome from the constant right-clicking or something, but even then, that's a pretty insane stretch.

stupidity does way harder things to my brain than LoL ever could do. reading this post gave me headache.

if i snowball, i tend to laugh yea. its fun to rip the enemy team apart. but its not something i MUST feel lol. and losing? dude its a game. shit happens. calm the F down man.

also seriously, no insult: you should get help from a doctor. im serious man you sound like you got problems.

BLACK REALM GOD6/2/2018, 4:54:15 PM1 votes

it means you're not cognizant. that you're unable to control your behaviors. you may have something wrong mentally with you. i suggest seeking help from a psychologist. you could have an issue with your Nucleus Accumbens that's causing your addiction.

"normal" people actually dont suffer from the described issues you've mentioned. people do however tend to act out what they see and so sometimes people get aggressive because streamers are aggressive or one of their party members has become aggressive. this is an issue with general gaming behavior and accepted trends/culture and not league of legends.

You fail at human psychology and chemistry forever, and you have brought eternal shame upon you, your family, and your House.

Cmon. League is maybe like a marijuana or sugar addiction. I question your street cred.

redniwediS6/2/2018, 3:12:10 AM1 votes

Games can be as addicting as drugs, but League does not have many of those mechanics. The only mechanic it has that is questionable is the hextech chests, which is just like any loot box.

Snowballing does not trigger the same part of your brain as heroin. This is a complete fabrication, and I'm going to need you to show me a cited source that shows that snowballing specifically, as it pertains to League, does this. I've seen studies over loot boxes, but that is nowhere even close to getting massively ahead during a MOBA game.

All pleasurable activities are addicting to some extent. Some of the effects have even been named (runner's high, for an example). I have played many different types of games, and have found that the ones I find most fun, are also the most difficult to stop playing. It got to a point with another game (UT2k4) that I had to quit, cold turkey, to save my relationship with my, then, girlfriend. Had I not done so, I would not be able to proudly call her my beautiful wife.

Video games are no more addictive than any other activity that does not involve chemical stimulus.

This isn't meant to be offensive, but you may take it offensively. I think you may have an addictive personality and you might need to see a professional. There's nothing wrong with having an addictive personality, it just means you need to be a little more self aware and cognizant of things you do and take steps to protect yourself from going down the rabbit hole.

You can try to play this game on lemons or chocolate with one glass of water, guarantee great fun... have fun :)

Eternal Torment6/2/2018, 10:47:24 AM1 votes

Funny how you say league is so addicting it could be compared to drugs that can potentially kill you.

Let me debunk your post with this:

Addiction and violent tendencies are the same in this matter. If you have a problem with it when doing something, then you had a problem before as well. the thing you do, or take, only gives a physical outlet for it.

you've had an addiction problem before you touched league. all lol does is let you point your fingers at something to shift the blame.

Real drugs mess with your entire biology, your hormones. it screws you over into addiction. a game? The only way it can screw with you is if you let it, aka, you already were done in from the start.

Gabresol6/2/2018, 12:56:07 PM1 votes

There is a big difference between the addiction drugs can pull you in and the kind of addiction you get from video games, gambling and getting your adrenaline pumping.

Not being able to play or or jumping from roof to roof might get your all tingly and can even cause depression, there won't be any physical consequences.

Drugs can cause a wide variaty of physical pain when trying to get off them. It can also cause your body to some weird reactions like increasing your heart right for apperantly no reason. The list is long...
