Can somone explain how telling someone to stop being toxic, is a reportable offense.

So yea. I said "shut up" and I asked why Ezreal kept calling me a "dumbass". I then proceeded to mute him and reported him after the game. This is also the chat from over a 40 minute game... So it wasn't like I was spamming chat or anything. Can we stop using player reports to dictate this stuff please? Ezreal clearly had it out for me and reported me because he didn't like me or for not playing up to his standard. Which is fine, I don't want to play with him ever again either. But I don't think it should constitute punishment.

Because all logs like this accomplish is to prolong and escalate the problem. If some toxic clown is trying to pick a fight with you, muting them will often just end the issue right there, which not only keeps you and the offending party on track, but spares the rest of the team from dealing with the drama. Responding like this, however, just continues to tilt everybody for as long as it takes the two of you to get bored with each other, and can even incite somebody to give up, troll, etc.

Plus, beyond just telling him to not be toxic, you were directly insulting with lines such as calling him "grade A trash".

Saying the word "report" is permabannable for God only knows what reason. It's unfortunate the "report" culture that Riot has created. They basically created a kind of mental reward for people who lose games, so that they can feel better about sucking and pin it on someone who isn't in their premade or who did something they didn't like. That's all any of these teens play the game for, to try to get someone's account banned.

Well yea, the way you said "muting you and reporting you" is in a very harassment tone of voice. It's minor, but it's not well liked by the community.

So for you to get punished for this, you would have to have displayed consistant annoying behavior.

Unless you are using the most agresive neutral words in the English language, of course your getting reported for telling them that. Things like “shut up” are really harsh for some people, while completely normal for others. If someone is being toxic that already means their on edge and probably more sensitive than normal.

By saying something like that your accidentally putting yourself in the same position he is. Words are powerful, and if Anyone chooses to participate in chat, they should be careful of what they say.

Also, you called someone “grade A trash”... does that need explaining?

(Btw, I think it’s dumb how sensitive people are, but also feel bad that they are offended when I can do something so easy to fix it.)
