Why do I get suspended?

T to the M··2 votes·2,851 views

Why do I get suspended because people get me pissed that they are sitting there smurfing ruining my ranked games, talking shit the whole time, spamming with laugh, spamming their mastery icon, camping my lanes, and when I voice my displeasure at playing the game with people like this, with no sportsmanship, not a single one of them do anything but rub it in peoples faces... and yet I get suspended... this game is so full of people that poke, and try to get you mad its unreal. Yes, I get mad, why would I not get mad when 90% of my games are ruined by some jerk that is doing everything he can to get me mad?

Because you fed the troll.

Never feed the troll.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gvYfRiJQIX8

But seriously though, riot doesnt care why you behaved negatively, only that you did. So when these situations arise, mute all of the problematic players and report at the end game screen if you believe it is warranted.

Edit: usually smurfs get put in queues with other smurfs pretty quickly. It is possible the system mistook you as a smurf if you have been hard carries by a few (it raises your mmr to smurf level if this happens enough)

T to the M1 votes

That doesn't do a damn thing. Because they don't say anything usually. They just camp lanes, spam laugh, spam mastery, and talk minor shit in all chat, but they don't say anything other than, umad, the salt... shit like that. And they will never be punished because of that. I have literally been reported in 90% of the games I play because I actually speak my mind and call people on their bullshit. And I am the one getting punished. This is so dumb.

o Maui o5 votes

When you let them get you mad, you're giving them power over you. You're letting them control you, letting them make you play worse so they have an easier time winning.

Be the bigger man. Mute them (which, by the way, also mutes emotes like /laugh). If you think they're being unsportsmanlike, report said unsportsmanlike behavior.

T to the M1 votes

So what? No one does that... no one mutes other players. And my play really isn't affected by how mad I am or not. Matter of fact, I play better when I am mad. Them making me mad, just proves that this games community is utter shit. People that play this game think its okay to spam mastery, and spam taunt, and say things like, umad, you salty, the salt is real... and any of the thousands of other things that they say just to shit all over someone else. I have NEVER experienced a game that is so full of pathetic little trolls.

Yeah, about 100% of them got permabanned (or getting light punishments) for not muting.

No such thing. You're not the Hulk. Being mad gets you on tilt real fast, thus making you lose a lot more games.

Them making me mad, just proves that this games community is utter shit.

You responded to the trolls(as Makior72 & Mars Ragnarol stated) instead of muting them, so what differences are you to the community?

Don't take the bait. Don't let the 5 year old tantrum in you to rise. That's literally what the trolls want you to do.

T to the M1 votes

Its not so much a 5 year old tantrum as a man to man fist fight to occur. See, where I come from if you disrespect someone blatantly, you go back behind the barracks and you beat the ever loving shit out of each other. Then you have a beer, and everything is business as usual. And that is what enrages me the most about this game, sure, I may not be the best player, but the amount of disrespect I have to deal with in this game, when chances are, these little trolls would never have the balls to stand up and disrespect me in person like they do in this game, is just infuriating.

As far as responding to them.. I will drop a quote for you by Edmund Burke. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Make sense?

BeatzBoyFTW5 votes

Yeah, in Lol, this isn't your neighboring hood. This isn't where you think you can still live the same lifestyle as yours back home. You play under Riot games, you play under their rules. It's pretty much a fair & square deal if you planned on keeping your account, otherwise, Dota2 or HOTS (or w/e other bs) is waiting for you.

T to the M1 votes

So basically what you are saying is its okay to be an instigator, just so long as you aren't toxic in in game chat, because riot says so, and that's how they have built the game to be?

And that trying to speak out against that system means you are going to eventually be perma-banned? Roger that.

No. Because we are not asking you to do nothing. We are asking you to wait until the end of the match THEN do something. Namely to use the post game report system, or report them via a support ticket(with screenshot evidence, ect)

I don't know where your from, but I do know the term barracks is usually associated with the military. Where Im from military personal are expected to use the chain of command to deal with issues. If there was a fight, both would get in trouble.

That is true you can get reported for nothing BUT if they are false reports then they will fall off. If you can put up the link for you chatlog we can tell you what you said that made the report vaild so you can avoid these mistake in your future games.

T to the M1 votes

How do they fall off? Hmmm? Because I didn't even play this game for like 2 years because the community was such a pile of shit. Then I come back and I can't get hextech rewards because I was chat suspended once 2 years ago and the community is so much worse than when I left, just now instead of spamming all chat with the stupid shit, they do it with in game features like, laugh, taunt, mastery. How do you explain that? I don't get it. Not to mention if people don't do anything of those things, spamming their laugh, or taunt, or master, or camping my lane, the game is pretty fun to play. But that is 1 out of 10 games.

Waiting on them thar chat logs

T to the M1 votes

And I'm never going to let you see them. Why? Because no matter what I said or didn't say, you are going to find some reason to say that my punishment is valid. Even if there is nothing on the chat log at all other than GG at the end of the game. Not only that, but you can't see anything but what I typed. Meaning you don't see what provoked me in the first place. So there is no reason to post a link.

o Maui o5 votes

Because it doesn't matter what they said. Two wrongs don't make a right; if you were a jerk because someone else was a jerk, then there were two jerks and both should be held accountable for their actions.

T to the M1 votes

Except they don't, and they never will be punished for instigating it. That is the essence of the problem. Do you think I would ever get punished if someone didn't blatantly do something to piss me off? I don't go looking for fights, I just finish them.

Zerfallen5 votes

Just like you didn't get punished?

o Maui o4 votes

There is no way for you to know whether or not a player has been punished. Additionally, when you have an altercation with another summoner, you only see their behavior in that one game and not in any of their other games. Basically, you have absolutely no idea what is going on with the other person. The only thing that we can be sure of is that you are reported for negative behavior more than other people are, and an audit of your chat logs found evidence of habitual toxicity that eventually led to your punishment.

If the other party was just as toxic as you, and does it as often as you, they'll face a similar punishment. But your ban is about your behavior, not theirs. Riot doesn't have to tolerate your toxicity just because someone else was also toxic.

Oh, and the "they started it" defense didn't work in elementary school, and it won't work here. I'll take your comment, as well as your refusal to provide your logs, as an indication you were in fact toxic.

T to the M1 votes

Yes, this is true. I do control my own actions, but you have to be some kind of scared little girl to not stand up for yourself when someone provokes you. And you can take it however you want. The point is, I would have no reason to be toxic if someone else didn't provoke me to begin with. And what happens if I posted you a link to my logs, and all you saw was a single communication of GG at the end of the game? Then what? Because that is a thing that does in fact happen. And you still wouldn't get to see any other communications in the game.

Yes, mistakes happen. How about you post your logs and show that it just said gg? Either a link to the reform card or a screenshot would be nice.

Also, if you're going to make a big deal about protecting your fragile masculinity, then don't be surprised when they ban you for it.

And until the people that do the provoking get punished in an equal ratio to those that fall for getting provoked, nothing is going to change.

o Maui o2 votes

For 1, I think we've already established that sheer volume of reports will never, on its own, trigger a punishment. At this point, I'm starting to think you are simply denying the objective facts because you are committed to hanging on to your misplaced sense of righteous indignation. You're not interested in understanding how the system works, you're interested in being angry at Riot.

For 2, we disagree. Your way of doing things would mean that people can get away with making a bad situation worse. As soon as one person says something that could be construed as toxic, it gives every other person in the game carte blanche to be toxic as well. Unpleasant situations would snowball out of control, more so than they do already. From Riot's perspective, it is simply not good business to allow these sorts of negative situations to escalate. Retaliation is not acceptable. Two jerks in a game is not more pleasant for the innocent bystander than one jerk in a game.

The time has come for you to deal with the fact that this is not how you would prefer the arrangement to be, but that it will not change to accommodate you because the people in charge believe, with good reason, that allowing people to retaliate and add to toxic situations is not going to help.

... you have to be some kind of scared little girl to not stand up for yourself when someone provokes you. ...

Ok. Firstly? Thats sexist. Little girls are no more or less scaredy cats than little boys. Everyone experiences fear. And regardless of gender its how you react to that fear that matters.

Secondly, Its not about whether or not you stand up for yourself. Its about how and when you stand up for yourself.

In this situation? In LoL?

In the middle of a match is not the appropriate time or place. The appropriate time and place is after the match.

Throwing back shade at your offender is not the appropriate action. The appropriate action is reporting at the end of the match.

T to the M1 votes

Which does absolutely nothing. NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN REPORTED AND PUNISHED FOR BEING THE PROVOKER! The only people that get reported and punished are the people that are like me and actually respond to being provoked. Am I in the wrong for responding? Because I refuse to let a little punk do it and get away with it? Even if its just in game chat? I have tried to go about it the polite way, by asking people to stop. "Could you stop spamming your laugh.. its annoying". Guess what. They spam it even more, and poke and prod until you are flipping your desk because you know they would never taunt you like that in real life... its just dumb. Being nice and polite gets you absolutely no where in life. The only thing people respond to is aggression, and force. And that is the sad truth.

Also, no. Little girls are much more fearful than little boys. Generally speaking. And it was a figure of speech anyway. It wouldn't be a figure of speech if it didn't have some truth to it.

  2. A person generally unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers.
