Why I quit playing League of Legends

Now I'm sure people were mostly coming here to see some tunnel visioned teenager who has no basic concept of an open minded opinion rant about how Riot is 'x' or 'y' but this is not going to be one of those.I love the game to death, but the toxicity of the lower elo community is going to be the death of me.

Now I won't lie, I have more than been guilty of this exact problem as well, and I will by no means deny it. But time and time again have I tried to break out of the need to reply back to hostile comments only to be dragged back into them by the never ending onslaught of either bad games or a game that happens to pick up a troll. People seem to have little to no means of moving past their pride to admit they are having a bad game and either jump to mock, insult, or belittle the one(or in some cases multiple) people who are playing poorly. And frankly, this has gotten to a point, where I am now terrified to enter into a solo queue or ranked game for the fear of becoming toxic myself, or having to put up with one. I have tried things like the ignore button, along with plenty of reports, but I simply feel that both are just throwing a towel over the issue while another takes it's place. So what else to do than to avoid the place where the problem lingers.

I understand that Riot being a company on a massive scale and player base makes it near impossible to properly balance a reporting system that can be both accurate and effective without innocent parties(players) being effected too harshly, but this has gotten to a point where it is nearly every game if not every other game I play. And I physically and mentally can not continue to hold a defense against it. Again, I love the game to death, but the hostility in this community(at least from what I have witnessed) has gotten to a point where it is more of a punishment to try to play than a satisfaction.

I do hope that Riot can find a way to fix or at least muffle these voices in the future, but for now it is simply too much. I have loved playing the game in the past, but I'm afraid that I have to stop for now. I could be just one of few, or even one of many who deal with this, but sadly, I can't anymore.

Best of luck to Riot in their future plans, and best of luck to all the Summoners who continue to play!

I haven't experienced bronze/silver in a long time but gold/platinum used to be hella toxic before the automated system. You still get the occasional trolls now but it's been reduced by at least 90% or more. The rare ones that you get that are super toxic are banned within a short period following my report.

I don't want to use ageism, but I think it really is the younger teens/kids (for the most part) that are making it a negative experience in a lot of free games. I'm sure there are a lot of young adults that are just as bad.

I've had games where my whole team is doing terrible, like turret diving endlessly and I won't say a word the entire game and they start flaming/blaming me, all 4 of them. I have no explanation for this. One time I was a Soraka who saved my diving team at least 30 times that match, and I still get 'report noob support' at the end of the game. I'm not good enough to be gold ranked or anything, but I can tell when I'm doing good or bad, and in these situations my team was just a joke, and still somehow put the blame on me.

I've also had games where 2/5 of the team were just wandering the map (not bots, not jg, just wandering for no reason), and then blame everyone else on the team for doing terribly when it's 3v5. This has got to either be trolls or little kids playing.

Now I get plenty of games where everyone is nice and work together even if we lose, but it's about 60/40 whether I get this awesome teamwork, or get a team full of trolls. The real funny (but sad) games are when we are doing really well and there's still 1-2 people flaming our team the entire game.

In SR, I often get stuck playing bot support alone with no adc at all. I'll get ganked 1v3 bot repeatedly , ping for assistance, while my team is doing nothing except insulting me or being completely oblivious.

Because of this, I don't play SR much anymore, but mostly ARAM. There is still occasional trolls/flaming, but it seems a lot more toned down.

If people are being verbally abusive in chat, you can always mute them.

I've had all chat turned off for as long as I can remember. Nothing good ever happens there, in my experience.
