Low Priority Queue Question

I'm curious how frequent one must leave games in order to be eligible for low priority queues. I had recently left one game because I suddenly had to leave for an emergency. Of course I didn't let my team know that. However, upon logging back on, I received a 5 game 10-min low priority queue. I won't lie when I say that I'm pretty frustrated that it happened, but one leave out of the thousands of games I've played where I haven't left (or even the last few hundred games I've played) shouldn't be this harsh. I understand that leaving game is punishable, but if it happens every once in a while (like once a month), the person should not be punished so heavily. It's like how one person shouldn't be suspended if he skips one day of (high/elementary) school.

So how frequent does one have to leave in order to receive the low priority queue?

There's no 'set' number. It's partially based on total games played, partially recent history, and partially which mode (it triggers faster in ranked). Riot does understand emergencies and unexpected crashes happen, so there's some leeway before LB triggers. And the LeaverLevel does decay as you play without leaving games. It just takes a lot more games that it does to trigger the system in the first place.

Most of the complainst come from people who either don't bother to make sure they are playing on a stable connection with suitable equipment, ragequit, or a combination.
