Why is this so hard to make it Riot?

This ignorance just proves me that Riot Games clearly wants toxic people to be banned, create another account, make another spendy spendy and boom #profit.

Why ignorance? People in 2013 were asking "why we are not able to disable the possibility to type by our own before the game in settings, so we won't be able to use it, no matter how hard we would like to"? I'm pretty sure there are many players (me aswell) who reaches the calm-limit and let it goes on chat, when we see someone shit-talks/trolls in game, where in many cases u end up both with chat/restriction/ban (trolls leaves freely as always).

Why is this so hard to apply? A self-prevent option? If we all want to make this game less-toxic, this option would help these people, like me, who don't want to get another restriction/ban just because of a couple of jerks.

People who are here only to type smth like "You can just mute them" - save your time and don't even comment.

Riot did try this out. The result: The players simply started trolling instead. The chat is not the problem, YOU are. If you dont have the chat to be toxic, you will be toxic in some other way.

Talking about ignorance...

The word ignorant is an adjective that describes a person in the state of being unaware, and can describe individuals who deliberately ignore or disregard important information or facts, or individuals who are unaware of important information or facts.

There's so much information about this very topic out there, and yet you act as though this is some genius idea no one has ever thought of and exclaim how dumb and greedy everyone is for not seeing your genius idea.

I know, right? People need to learn self-control!

Riot doesn't force players to spend money or make new accounts. If players do those then they do so of their own volition and not because Riot forced them to. This is just a lame excuse made by people who can't stand the fact that Riot isn't gonna let them get away with being jerks in their game regardless of how much money they spend on it. To quote Kei143:

When Riot permabans someone, their philosophy is "the chances of this guy reforming isn't a whole lot, we'd rather not have him in the game". Thus in their eyes, they have already written off the toxic player as a paying client.

From a business standpoint, do they want to remove the toxic guy who has spent $500 but is causing a negative environment for 4-9 other players in every game? Those non-toxics are also spending $500 and probably will spend more, promote the game more when they are enjoying the game AND they won't cause a negative environment.

I personally think it is a fine argument to protect the ones that are paying money and aren't toxic rather than protecting the ones that may pay the same amount but are toxic.

From Riot Tantram:

We perma-ban players that we no longer want playing League of Legends, because they hurt the community. We do not want them to make new accounts. We cannot STOP people from making new accounts though.

From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

“Riot bans people because they make money off of forcing people to create new accounts and repurchase the skins.”

Just stop. This is a really silly argument. I didn’t pay for my account any more than you did and while I have bought a number of things, I didn’t have to. There’s nothing relevant to competitive play that I couldn’t have bought with IP.

Also, Riot actively discourages people from making new accounts.

Actually, if we're permabanning you we don't want your money or your time. Just find another game.

As far as a self-prevent option is concerned, one exists called self-control. Outside of that though there's:

  • the mute button
  • unbinding enter key
  • moving the chat window off-screen
  • simply not playing pvp or co-op vs. ai and only playing custom bot matches
  • simply not playing LoL

It's not hard to make such an option at all. The question is why should Rito make it? Why should every team be at a disadvantage of having teammate(s) who cannot see their chat before the game even begins? If you want to mute, make that conscious choice each and every match.

Actually, there is a tolerance for venting in the chat. It's probably not enough for you, but you can occasionally be rude without any punishment. This tolerance is important, because if you feel the need to absolutely answer instead of muting (despite the latter requiring less effort), then it's not just a matter of chat toxicity. At this point, you're UPSET, which is a mental state, and preventing you from using chat will do nothing to appease it. For most people, venting a bit from time to time is quite enough to calm down.

For the others... well, you gotta work on it, the game's not a substitute to your self-control. See it as an improvement of your level as you can't play properly when you can't keep your cool. The social construct line of conduct you have to follow or else you're a bad person is only a part of the reasons, and a minor one actually; a more rational one is that it is harmful for your performances. Regardless of your ability to use or not the chat.

You can already unbind your enter key.

If the case is you're so toxic that you can't contain yourself from not being a jerk to people consistently enough to get perma'd then you should probably work on that before playing.

First of all, why would people who get banned, spend money on a new account? It makes absolutely no sense. Most toxic players who get banned simply get a new account and don't spend money on it outside maybe possibly buying a boost or a few to level it up and that's it, or even more they just buy their accounts.

Riot tried permamuting people, didn't work out. Riot doesn't want to strip a way of communication from players. Sure pings are sufficient most of the time but occasionally the chat can prove useful.

You just told in the first sentence why they do not make it :D

Also there are multiple user-made solutions for this issue. Search the Boards back a little bit and you'll find them. (A solution was written by me in C#, but i posted it on a different account, so you wont find it in my Boards history...)

If you need it, and cant find i it, i might be able to find the source too, just reply if you need it.

Yeah, IDK... its weird. They want you to communicate, but then say youre not required to communicate, but then say youre required to have the chat function available but then say if you use it wrong youre banned lol. Its not a problem to me, whether they let you disable it or not. But I can understand why some want it disabled. I can sort of understand why Riot doesnt let you disable it, but in the end, I dont agree with their reasons for not letting you disable it. They aught to just let people disable chat if they want. Its a fucking video game. Why are they restricting the fucking option to use chat in a video game. You HAVE TO use it? Its a VIDEO GAME, not a job! The fuck. (Oh but no you dont have to use it... you just have to have it AVAILABLE for some reason... its just dumb to be honest. And i argued against disabling it for a long time, knowing deep down I really shouldnt care what you do with your chat)

Even if this is true (it's not) Riot shouldn't be considered ignorant.

They should be credited for their shrewd business acumen.
