Does the Report/Bann system actually work ?

I just had a game with a Yasuo top who got 2/19 and flamed me crazy, he talked about religion and my family and literally didn't stop .. I reported him and I didn't see any feedback on him getting banned? the problem is that he said it's his smurf so he will just play with his main account if he gets banned, he was extremely tilting and had absurd bad behavior.. and I honestly can't be bothered having my day ruined because some idiot in a game said extreme BS to me and I can't talk back.. should I just quit the game or can anyone give advice how to deal with these freaking idiots ?

it isn't 100% guaranteed that riot will inform you if a player you reported got punished

they will on occasion do that yes, but not all the time

you can also always unless it was removed send in a ticket for reporting a player in the support and make sure to include any bits of info from the match in question as well as a link from op.gg or the league site of the match in question so they have an easier time checking the chat logs

But reports work. You just don't always get a confirmation message.
