Unfair Chat Ban

So today I had a support Thresh who made it near impossible for me to lane, he kept autoing/stealing minions to deny me gold, never used lantern to help me etc. So I got a little upset and got chat banned but I feel as if I didn't say anything to deserve it.

I got chat banned yet he didn't get banned at all, nothing, despite ruining that whole game for me. Thank you Riot

Supports cs'ing isn't meta, but it isn't against the rules. As long as he was trying to win and wasn't intentionally handing the enemy kills or the win, not playing to the meta isn't a reportable offense.

However, complaining in chat and harassing him the entire game is a reportable offense. Asking for reports is considered harassment, and is also pointless. Just one report is enough to flag the game for review. Multiple reports don't flag the game for multiple reviews. And multiple reviews wouldn't even make a difference because they'd all find the same results. If you want to report someone, then do it. No good reason to ask anyone else to report.

Sounds like your teammates made you aware that your behavior wasn't okay. Hopefully this chat restriction will be enough to help you learn to keep your cool in games. Going forward, if another player does something you think you should report, do that. But don't spend the whole game complaining and insulting them or begging for reports.

So intentionally stealing minions while I'm there is fine? Throwing his lantern AWAY from me while trying to escape is fine? How is my chat (which people can mute) banable but not his griefing?

First of all, if his behavior was punishable and you reported it then it will count against his account.

There is no rule in league that states adc's are entitled to all of bot lane's farm and that supports can't take any. It is the META, but the meta isn't an ironclad strategy everyone is bound to, even if most follow it. As far as his lantern, it sounds like a bad play, or like he was trying to set up the shield for kiting, and like a one-time incident. Bad plays happen.

No one is defending genuine trolls. No one is saying that troll behavior is okay. What we are saying, is that regardless of any other player's behavior, you're still responsible for your actions. And your response to his behavior was not okay.

Na that thresh was genuinely trolling. But we were winning the game by a landslide. I kept telling him to ignore him and relax maybe 15 times

You can't steal something that nobody owns. It's as if you said I was stealing water by going to a river on public property and filling up my water bottle. It doesn't make sense.

If he was legitimately trolling and you reported him for it, it would have been reviewed. That being said, it's certainly possible to misfire abilities - i have thrown abilities literally backwards multiple times in the 4 games I played this morning - accidents happen. If he was doing it more consistently, then that's possibly grounds for a punishment, but Riot makes that determination from an outside point of view. You may not want to admit it but your experience in lane has likely made you view his actions more negatively than an unbiased person would.

Again, not saying that he wasn't trolling - just that you are not the proper person to judge that. All you are able to do is report them and allow an outside party (Riot) to make the determination.

LOL i was your YI who carried that game. I reported you. You were telling him he was worse than someone flaming bc he threatened to afk... then you threatened to afk.
