changes to mmr-boosting punishments?

hey guys, a friend of mine just received a ban for being mmr-boosted he than contacted the support after reading the faq and getting its first (copy&paste)answer fromt he supp he was curious about smthg

i rmeber int he past that the punishment was the removing of all previous season rewards this is also what the ban message int he client says but the support answer+faq say its only for the current season

my question is now pretty simple: does an mmr ban remove now all previous rewards or did riot change it that it now only removes the current season? (i checked his profile he still had his gold border from last season shown there)

(i want to note im not here to discuss the ban itself i want to discuss the actual punishment sicne riot doesnt seem to communicate clear about that right now)

an board answer from a riotler would be much appreciated
