Idea: Seperate opt-in zero-tolerance queue

I have an idea to reduce remakes and disconnects that could be really useful.

Basically, we should recognize that there are two categories of league players in terms of time commitment.

Type 1 - Play casually, may not always finish a game, might cause a remake or AFK later, and don't really care too much about disconnecting or leaving (even in ranked - the casual players don't care what their rank is). These people might be trying to squeeze in a game before class/work, might treat league more like a casual online game, or might have bad internet.

Type 2 - Almost never queue dodge, disconnect or quit in the middle of a game. Only play when they are sure they have the time, have good internet and PCs. I only play when I am sure I have an hour to play, but if I have to spend 10-20 mins on 2 remakes then i'm salty AF and don't have time left to play a real game.

So lets make a separate queue with higher stakes for AFKing/leaving for the second type -

  • 1+ hour queue dodge timer, doubling each incident and maybe resetting every week.

  • instant 1 day ban (from this queue, not the whole game) for leaving (regardless of cause), escalating quickly each incident - 1 day ban, then 2 day, then 4 days, 8 days, 30 days etc.

The point is to make the penalties painful enough that type 1 players will never play here, but type 2 players would love to play here. Obviously everyone wants to be in the type 2 queue, but the penalties should be high enough that you can only do so if you ARE a type 2 player.

On the flip side, people who take it more casually don't face such high penalties, they can continue to play like they do.

Right now, I am guessing only way to get to these high-quality queues is play a TON until you are platinum or something. But the majority of serious players won't be ranked so high - this separates the measurement of skill from the measurement of commitment.

No. There is no separation of this player base. Riot considers all players equal and nobody deserves to be segregated or split.

There is. It's called "private customs". Just make sure your buddies aren't dicks who think it's funny to "joke" report because they don't believe the report system works.

Yeah, no.

This could and would cause the issue of, "well I can do it in THAT queue so I can do it in THIS queue." Trust me, it would happen. I've had summoners rift games where people would insist they could int and troll because they can do it in arams without punishment(which, you can't.). Even if it clearly stated that no, you can't do this or that in this queue, people would do it because there's a queue they can/think they can do it in.

I disagree with your premise for Type 1 players. Due to Low Priority Queue and Leaver Buster I really don't think casual players just up and leave on a regular basis, no more than your Type 2 players.

Even if you assume you're right about Type 1 and Type 2 players, Type 2 players would be signing up for worse matchmaking in exchange for only slightly reduced changes of AFK/DC/Dodge. Would you really be less frustrated if your games were even worse than they are now?
