Punished because the game crashed - is this normal?

Hi,

I've been put on longer waiting queues because apparently I've been AFK and abandoning games, but I haven't done any of that intentionally. A few days ago, I couldn't play League of Legends due to some connection bug on my end, so I stopped trying (after the first try) and sent a bug report to Riot.

I decided to not play for a few days because I have a lot of work and maybe the problem might fix itself if I wait. So I play again tonight after a few days and my PC crashes mid game (it goes into sleep mode for no reason.) I relaunch my PC, quickly relaunch the game and get back in the match I was playing. Luckily, the match isn't over so I get to finish the game, catch up my levels, and go to the result screen like normal players. But that's where I see that I'm counted as being an AFK player (despite the fact that I rejoined the match?)

I now have to wait 20 minutes before joining any games, yet I haven't actually abandoned a game by my own accord, ever. Everytime I play a game, even if I am losing, I play it until the end. The only times I've been AFK are due to crashes, and they don't happen that often, maybe once a month.

20 minutes seems really long for somerthing I have literally no control over as a player. Is there a way I can try to reverse this? I have sent a ticket to support and also reported my bug as soon as it happened with the game crash window that pops up.

Thanks.

Crashing once a month is really a lot. Do everything you can to fix it. Going to sleep mode is your fault.

Riot is looking out for its players. The players don't care why someone isn't contributing to the game. Crashing or purposefully rage-quitting are exactly the same thing as far as impact on the game.

I'm seeing two games back to back where it looks like you never connected on the 29th. Then two more again on the 15th of this month back to back where you didn't connect. Finally two more on the 4th.

That's 6 in a single month.

Riot doesn't care unfortunately. I've lost ranked games where everyone in the game experience heavy lag and bugs, which meant the issue was server side. We all reached out to riot afterwards to have the loss forgiven, but they didn't care. There's too many people and riot doesn't want to pay for more support staff so they let the robots handle it.
