You should be punished if you play ranked drunk

Alcohol intoxication - Wikipedia

If you are in ANY state of inebriation weather legal or not, you shouldn't be playing ranked. Playing drunk, by definition is GRIEFING. "drunkenness among other names, is a physiological condition that may result in psychological alterations of consciousness." Countless games of league have been lost because, "Well I'm drunk man" the only thing I see is, I'm intentionally playing at a lower level because I think it's fun. I would like to win and find my skill cap. This has been ruing my ranked experience for many seasons. I wish riot would weigh in on a topic such as this.

No way to prove it. Never gonna happen. Even if they say theyre drunk, how can you ACTUALLY prove they are?

There's no way for a video game accurately judge if someone is drunk, high, etc.

Further, playing while tired, angry, tilted, mad at your team, depressed, distracted, hungry, etc. all negativity influences your playstyle and team cooperation as well, to a greater or lesser extent. Is that suddenly ban-worthy as well? What about people like me, who legitimately play better drunk than I do when tilted?

Well, there is drunk and drunk.

From about 15 to 22 years old i've been an heroin addict, i dropped school and spent my life selling and taking drugs in free partys, heroin/cc/ketamine/lsd mainly, but also weed and so on. I played eve online at the time to escape, i had in-game responsibilities and often helped organize the fights while on drugs, it might have been an issue maybe 4/5 times in years.

Of course people shouldn't play ranked while being totally drunk. But trust me you'll have an hard time proving that they were :) I'm sure there is countless people playing while smoking weed or other craps, but statistically the enemy team will have high people in their team as much as you have sometime one drunk dude in yours.

What about people playing while not having slept for more than 72hours, should they be punished too, what about those that can't concentrate because they have a headache, those that have issues with focusing their attention, should they be punished too ?

Most of us play league to relax and escape our problems for a bit. for some of us relaxing and such also mean having a little drink. I agree that if you are way too drunk you should not play, but riot won't have a way to prove you were unless you say it, what about if you contest the punishment saying you were joking ?

I still take opiates as a treatment today, what about that ? should i not be allowed to play because of the side effects ?

I don't think it's feasible and today I still wanna be able to play league after a few beers.

I'd be interested to see the response that Riot would have to this. I do have to agree that playing drunk is griefing. But how can you really determine whether or not they are drunk? There isn't a breathalyzer to play the game or anything. Stating "I'm drunk" could potentially be punishable. I dunno tho. That one is kinda an iffy.

Lowvyr12/25/2017, 5:28:40 PM1 votes

What are ya gonna do, make them take a breathalyzer before they play? If I had to take a breathalyzer before every game I just wouldn't play. Or get someone who isn't drunk to take it for me and let me into the game.

So how exactly would they even regulate this? It would be physically impossible to go to every single person's house and make sure they are not drunk.

And if they are using it as an excuse then it doesn't help their case as there is no excuse for feeding let alone the IFS, or how ever Riot system detects feeding would consider Sider that a legitimate excuse so there is no point!

If this is bothering you go outside and find something else to do people are people and will do what people do you can't get around it if you keep banning people you are going to have no one to play with

Last i checked there was no rule saying you couldnt do it. If there is no rule specifying that an action is barred you should not be banned for it. Like saying they should be punished for drinking water despite there being no rule against it. If they int in ranked as a result you can punish them for inting (so long as it actually is inting and not just bad luck) but as for punishing someone for enjoying a game with alcohol in their system it is not bannable.

oh come now, most people who say probably aren't actually drunk and just want to look cool even though there's nothing cool about being drunk

I'm all for sober and alert teammates, but at the end of the day, this is a video game. Folks play it to relax. Playing ranked doesn't mean you're on a professional team.

Old bs post is bs (i do not consume alcohol btw so zero bias here)

Same exact thing could be said for thousands of different forms of mental illness including but not limited to adhd, bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety.

All things medically defined to change the state of mental consciousness

With that aside, Ill say it like i always do when this post comes up,

If the drunk guy feeds, and acts an ass, you report em like any other. If the drunk guy carries, and acts a gentleman, you honor em like any other.

Drunk doesnt matter, the actions do.
