My friend wacky, was permanently suspended from league of legends for using third party programmes. However, these programmes were only used in two games. Both of these games resulted in a loss and so therefore did not effect the outcome of the game. After these games were played, my friends and I made sure that he removed the third party programmes to prevent the risk of being banned in the future. The third party programmes were used in the ranked flex mode, and so were not used as a method of climbing solo ELO, or as a method of boosting other players ELO. The programmes were used solely for entertainment purposes and were not used as a means of personal gain. Please reconsider the ban you placed him under. He realises that he has broken the terms of service and the thought of losing his account which he has spent a lot of money and time on, since season 3, is heartbreaking to us all. Let me hear your thoughts on the matter and hopefully we can sort the situation out.

I have no sympathy for those who get banned for cheating, no matter how little they cheated or if they still lost while cheating.

Have a heart dude, he has spent hundred of hours of his life on this, not to mention a ton of money on skins and champions. He is so much fun to play with and did not mean any harm, the least Riot can do is reconsider.

We do have hearts. We also didn't break the TOS. The penalty was listed and carried out.

Why is the person who cheated immune to this argument? Where was their "heart" when they place themselves at an unfair advantage when they choose to cheat at a game?

People play each of these competitive games with the expectation that there's an even playing field.

It's pretty much a universal rule in any game you play with other people.

I'm sorry, but admitting to using the 3rd party programs shows that the punishment was deserved, and Riot will not lift the punishment. It doesn't matter if you only used them in 1 or 2 games, if you lost the games you used them in, or even what game mode you use them in, you were still using the 3rd party programs. As you already know, it is a violation of the ToU and will be met with a permanent ban.

Umm, since there's 6 yes votes I'm going with you and your friends all voted yes and then one person who has probably been banned for scripting.

He knowingly downloaded and used in ranked games (which doesn't matter as even normal games would be punished). He uninstalled not because he didn't want to get in trouble, but because they didn't work.

That he knew they would potentially cause him trouble just goes to show that he knew what he was doing was wrong.

He can create a new account and you guys can all still play together, but that's it. He's not getting the account back and I really don't have any sympathy for someone who knowingly installed and tried using 3rd party programs. I don't understand what you want to discuss.

You guys all speak the truth but as you can imagine its a huge inconvenience to lose all your skins and masteries etc. Its all just been a huge waste of money and time. If some of the higher tier skins/champions were reimbursed to a different account, that would at least be something, but I don't know exactly how riot handle these situations

They handle these situations exactly how it happened.

Third-party programs that give an unfair advantage are not allowed and bannable. They do not discriminate. The amount of money or time spent on the game doesn't give you special immunity to punishments.

Third-party programs that don't give an unfair advantage, but are not officially endorsed by Riot, are use at your own risk. Riot is free to determine without announcement that they don't want people using that program and ban for it.

I don't cheat. Not only because it's not fair for the other players, but because I value my account.

If your friend valued his account he probably shouldn't have cheated.

It's intended to be a huge disincentive. Unfortunately, your friend did not pay heed to the warnings in the TOS.

Skins do nothing towards gameplay... He can make another account- and purchase the runes

Riot should also punish those who knew they were being assisted by a cheater(thats my opinion)

Sorry for drawing you into all this guys and you're definitely entitled to your opinion, I just feel he at least deserves a second chance, given how long he has been a part of the community and how this is indeed his first offence (no chat bans or anything of the sort previously to my knowledge) it's really tearing him up and I can confidently say that he will try nothing of the sort ever again having realised the potential ramifications of such actions.

As far as the terms of service goes I bet a large majority of users have no idea what the consequences of this kind of thing are, until it's already too late, so I dunno I feel like an automatic permanent ban is a little excessive for what is in the end a free to play game meant for having fun.

Having said all this I am a support main after all so perhaps I am a little more lenient than the rest of you, I just hope that you see things from every perspective before judging. Not everything is as cut and dry as the rules make them out to be.

I argue the opposite. I think almost everyone knows that if you cheat in a game you risk getting banned.

Do you really think that people read the 50 page agreement everytime they update iTunes? Your argument seems pretty naive from where I'm standing but whatever dude, you're not on our side and there doesn't seem to be any way of winning you over so c'est la vie.

There's a difference between what they want and what people do, that's my point. Can you not see how an automatic ban after just one offence could be construed as excessive, even if it was against the rules? Plus it's not like it was Solo Queue, I mean come on man he was just clowning around for youtube.

No it isn't. Your argument was that a majority of players don't know that they can get banned for cheating. And I disagreed with that.

Cheating is a zero grey area for me. You know that you're breaking the rules of the game. Giving a slap on the wrist for the first instance of cheating would just send the message, "It's okay to cheat, just stop after you get caught once".

You do not have to. As already mentioned above, cheating gets you banned in literally every online game that i ca think of. In addition, it is obvious that you won't be allowed to get an advantage by installing third party programms. Even if there was any doubt left, he could specifically check the TOU before doing it, wont take you long.

Claiming that you/he didn't know those rules is no excuse. They are so obvious, it is naive to think you would get away with this, and it is naiv to think anybody would accept this as an excuse. Its like claiming that you didn't know a red light means stop.

The TOS is there though, and is free for you to read. It's YOUR fault for not doing it and not acting according to it. Just because nobody reads it, doesn't mean you are innocent in cheating in spite of it.

If your argument is that he is stupid to use scripts/3rd party programs on his main account with hundreds of $$$ spent on it . . . its a bad argument , no he does not deserve anything back , it doesnt matter what the results were.

Honestly, if it was just for some kicks and for youtube; make an account specifically for that risk and try to keep it to norms or customs. Even if people don't see flex as serious, it is still ranked.

What third party program?

Also every program running on a PC is third party

Direct X is 3rd party Steam is 3rd party Creative / Soundcard Driver Apps / Programs 3rd party Nvidia / AMD Control Panel 3rd party

Team Viewer is 3rd party this can be used as a cheat if people let others share account through their own pc / ip address...

But having this or similar programs installed in general get a user banned?
