Hi everyone thank you for taking the time to read my post. This is my first one on here as I usually post to reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends . However I felt as if the issue I've been faced with calls for a more legitimized and close-to-riot interaction than the League of Legends subreddit.

Before I digress any further I wanted to claim that I am Platinum 2, toxic as hell and looking to reform. I've been 10 game chat banned, 25 day chat banned and now 14 day banned from playing games on my main account. I really enjoy this game and want to continue playing it at a high(er) level and make the push to Diamond. However I feel as if my commitment to be a great League of Legends player is taking a toll on my mentality, therefore causing frustrations on me and causing me to take out said frustrations on my teammates through a verbal chat log. I hate being toxic, I realize it makes the mentality of my teammates worse and the ability to win much lower than normal.

Basically this is a cry for help. I have over $650 spent on this account with countless hours logged onto my account (started playing in December 2014 and ranked in January 2015) I love playing League of Legends, it's one of the best decisions of my life and I really want to continue playing. Being perma banned would be the ultimate punishment and it would make me really unhappy. I know that with a lot of practice and committment I can be great at the game I JUST NEED TO STOP BEING SO TOXIC.

I need suggestions how to be a better communicator and a better teammate. Please, any suggestions are helpful.

I created a new account and I am starting fresh. I used to be a little toxic and wasn't proud of my behavior. So far I am doing good and maybe it will help you.

  1. I turned off ALL CHAT.
  2. I wait until minions spawn and see if my group is going to coordinate with me . . . or if I my ADC/Support is going to talk to me. If no one says anything meaningful, I just mute all.
  3. I don't patronize or attack people in game, especially my teammates. If you want to offer constructive feedback add that person as a friend after the game and give them POSITIVE FEEDBACK TO HELP THEIR GAMEPLAY.
  4. Never engage a troll, toxic player, or negative enemy player. Mute them immediately, report them, and file a ticket. MAKE SURE YOU ESCALATE YOUR REPORT AFTER A RESPONSE SO THAT PLAYER GETS PUNISHED. MAKE SURE YOU MENTION YOUR REPORT AS WELL IN THE TICKET.

My suggestion? /mute all

EVERY match. RIGHT at the start. Saves a ton of grief.

Alternately, get banned. Pick up a new game. Play that instead. League is shit now. Just move on to something fun like me and 90% of my friends list did.

Easy. Dont talk shit. Feed or afk instead when you are mad.

/mute all

you could always hide the chat. Basically so you don't read what others say and you don't say anything in response.

OORRRRR in extreme cases, just remove your "enter" key while you play.

If negativity in chat is what sets you off then use /mute all when you get into a game and disable /all chat. If this is an issue of how you react to other players, regardless of what they say, try to remember that these are real people you're playing with. If you wouldn't say it to your best friend or to another person you respect and like, then just don't say it. That person who made you mad deserves as much respect as anyone else, even if they themselves are not being respectful.

Look for the positive things people do instead of dwelling on their mistakes. Tell someone "gj" for doing something that benefits your team, even if they made a mistake in the process. They, like you, are not perfect and deserve the benefit of the doubt. Tell them "gj" even if you think they won't say anything back, because acknowledging an ally did something well can often improve their attitude. This, in turn, can improve the general atmosphere of the game and encourage your allies to be positive towards you. I tend to find myself not talking much aside from saying things like "gj", "ty", and occasional good-natured jokes. Toxic players are hard to deal with, but it's often better to just mute them and respond normally to everyone else (rather than letting yourself be pulled in).

You literally don't need to do anything. I was where you were at, I asked what I needed to do and didn't change a single thing I was doing. 3 months later I was declared reformed for not changing a single thing.

Riot will say people deserve the punishments they get, but they will and have rewarded negative behavior despite saying you're behavior is wrong.

you need to literally mute everyone in match because these stupid fucks will ban you even if you have assholes for teammates.

just mute everyone the moment you enter the game you will still see pings but that's it. this will make it impossible for them to flame you and just pretend that you are muted by them so there is no reason to type in chat.

Find a good team to play with, this way you actually get players that know what theyre doing haha. Or just mute everyone in lobby

Have you tried playing with music? Not Breaking Benjamin xDD Instrumental music. Right now I was in Pandora, listening to 80's pop channel. Sometimes I go to the Nightwish channel, sometimes to Bohemian Rhapsody channel, etc.

When I feel too much pressure, I go out of the pc for a while and take a break, and then come back with a fresh mind.

If im in a bad mute, I use the "/mute all" command and I don't play ranked until I get better.

Also, I go there and play with chill team-mates that wants to win. And by chill I mean "non-toxic" ones.

Don't talk.

Use pings to communicate.

Mute all.
