Even for a zero tolerance system, I believe this is a bit harsh.
In all chat I was trading jokes with the other team about incest, necrophilia, and other dark humour shit. I understand that some people could've gotten uncomfortable, but the mute button is always available. What's happened, happened and I'm over it, but this seems a bit harsh to me.

fednhungry2 votesI said I understand, and comparing a shooting to offending someone in a video game is pretty extreme. If you look at the bigger picture, this system could be abused considering it's an instant feedback system. Anything that is negative no matter what is going to get you restricted.

I would love to see riot implement an in game tool equivalent to "shooting people in the head"
I am in no way advocating violence or real life violence against anyone. Simply following the metaphoric analogy left in the comment to which I am replying.
Though it occurs to me that being a trolly troll and trolling people into saying frustrated things in chat, and then reporting them and letting riot perma ban them for "things that offend or make people uncomfortable" is probably pretty close to that bullet-meets-head analogy... Bypass the vest all-together and go for the winning shot, right? Why shoot at the vest at all if you know how to make a headshot without ever being in range for the target to shoot back? (IE, don't speak in chat, just troll silently and not feed heavily enough to be determined to be inting, and get people perma banned for flaming the troll or even asking them to stop.)
No wonder all the legitimate, frustrated players of this game became the trolls that people complain about in 20%-85% of their games. What an effective way to breed trolls and teach them how to cause the most damage to other players without ever being punished by riot for their actions.
I strongly disagree with your suggestion and your metaphor. I think it would be very unhealthy for the community in the long run. I think telling players to use their vests and punishing headshotting trolls instead of those who return fire when fired upon, would be a more effective and healthy means for the community to approach this issue of "offense" and "trolling".
And your metaphor, frankly, was really offensive to me. School shootings and night club shootings have become a real problem in my area and your blatant disregard for the trauma many people have endured should be punished. You have no regard or respect for how your careless words hurt and offend poor traumatized victims. Your callous disregard for human life when you compare people being shot to you personally having your feelings hurt by a 3 letter word on the internet... It's disturbing to me that you could be so offensive and yet act like you are the offended victim who has to report and punish people for saying mean things to you on the internet.
Edit: and by the way, the context in which you used the metaphor or your intent doesn't matter AT ALL. Just the fact you used those words and said those things in any context whatsoever is you using negative words and messages.
