LOW ELO AFK
Let's be serious, AFK is a serious issue affecting the health of the game at all elos. However, I believe that it is disproportionately prevalent in low elo and casual game modes. if you want numbers, let's try these numbers. Tonight four out of four games had a person leave the game on my team. that is a 100% ratio. if it is so uncommon, why is it I seem to get at least one EVERY DAY?! My personal story extends beyond this season, The very first season I played I won 8/10 games for my ranked promos. both of my losses were AFKs. in the subsequent season, as I was pushing to try and get into the next tier, I encountered many games where a member of my team up and left for no apparent reason.
I STOPPED PLAYING RANKED because it seemed so horribly common at that low tier level of play. To this day, I seem to be plagued by people afking and taking an auto loss for their team rather than dodging.
I have 2 solutions for this type of behaviour. It has happened to most people where extraneous circumstances result in a disconnection and it ultimately loses your team the game. It happens. However, people ought to be punished accordingly . The punishments for afk are laughably low. In ranked games, they should lose half of the progress to the next level automatically. People will think long and hard about their situation before queuing up if they know it is going to take them 5 wins to make up for their one afk.
In normals and ARAMS afks should automatically require a certain number of bot games before being able to queue up for ANY other game mode, and afking in a bot game results in a ban. repeat and constant offenders would continually incur a greater number of bot games until, they were essentially banned from playing any other game mode until they learn how to finish a game.
in reality, it probably isn't a system that is new to you, or an idea that is new to you. As a long time league player, I get a little frustrated when 100% of my games have someone decide that they dont even want to bother clicking a mouse, knowing that the punishments are so laughable that they arent even worth worrying about. "it's just a casual game mode, right"
I try to win, even when I am playing something I literally have never played before, and I would like to be paired with people who feel the same way.
