Why I'll be ending my time with League.

So,

I want to preface this with the fact that I'm aware having a thicker skin can be a requirement with any online game. However, I've been a long time gamer and have seen both the best, and worst, that the gaming community has to offer.

At this point however I can't really handle the abusive nature some people have in league. Yes, I can mute them. They can get reported and potentially banned, etc. That doesn't change the immediate impact it can have on my day and my general mood. After a hard day's work, coming home to enjoy a quick game or two of ARAM, which overall requires less optimal performance than Summoner's Rift, I can make mistakes or have a bad game, and be ok with that, or an excellent one and be thrilled. Sometimes rolls don't make for a good game, etc. Its random, just like life.

The treatment I received today from several players was enough to put me off. I asked for positive feed back and attempted to follow a few of the directions i'd been given, but being met with comments like "You should have rerolled X character" or "Your gameplay hurts my eyes, it's made me blind" or even "You should just uninstall league".

Less players is always a good thing right? I'd imagine gamers would want a bigger community, and to help it grow. I've seen other people treated this way as well, regardless of the game mode. I try not to offer too much direct input to other players, because some people don't like being told what to do or how to play. But I always try to encourage people, or have a good laugh, with team mates or the enemy.

Anyways, thank you for the fun, and for hearing my feedback. I hope you as players can improve as a community, especially the ones this kind of negativity comes from in league.

Thicker skins are needed in life.

Riot has no duty to coddle you. You will be exposed to jerks and if you get triggered by everything and need a safe space and throw your hands up and walk away from everything that upsets you, then you will have a very difficult time adjusting to the real world.

People shouldn't be abusive but they can be and many times are in the real world. You need to have better coping mechanisms than running away from anything that offends you.

Riot is doing its best to create an environment of players that are good gamers and leave others feeling with at least a neutral experience when playing league. That's all they can do. If you're upset it isn't working fast enough, make some suggestions and help be a part of the solution.

If you wanted sympathy in this swan song, you will not get any from me.

TL;DR Guy is quiting because he doesn't think thicker skins should be a requirement to play a vidja games.

My personal feeling about this is, if your invested in this game enough for it to impact your real life outside of the games, you may want to take a step back for the best and reflect. Personally gaming is my life, people are kinky creatures and i'm cool with what they have to offer. My issues come from the game, rather than "toxic" players.

The new reward system should be forced, and not have a skip button, because I personally still don't know wut honor does, and that means if i don't see a gain why would i honor somebody for the team bonus reward (same issue as the old system). If your a jungler and don't take smite, why remake when you can risk your teams lp, because either way you'll end up with a loss.

Also maybe you still love games, but hate people/certain people, there are always single player games or bot matches, or if u wanna stay with league you can play in a premade.

You could use /mute all or /fullmute all at the beginning of a game. Post in Player Recruitment to find someone who's chill and willing to give you advice, and you won't need randoms to do the same. Better yet, introduce an IRL friend to League, or have a friend who already plays League join you.

The tools to remove harmful interactions with other players are available to you. You just have to use them.
