A Potential Solution to an Annoying Problem
Here is a game I played nearly 20 minutes ago. I wasn't paying much particular attention in champion select or I most likely would have dodged. Someone was auto-filled. Someone picked something someone didn't like. It wasn't ideal.
Then the game started. Our Garen ran straight down mid-lane and died before the one minute mark. As soon as he spawned he teleported bot lane and did the same thing. He continued to do this for the entire game, even buying mobi boots to die faster. The entire game was a waste of time. I've had games similar where people feed for no reason other than to anger teammates, but in this one, I had an idea. As stated by the Garen himself, he did not care about being reported because of him having multiple accounts. If this account got restricted or banned he could just hop over to the next one and play unobstructed. Even though I had gotten an instant feedback report, which states the player got punished, I find myself asking, "Did he?"
I don't know if the account he was playing on got banned at all, but I do know that it doesn't matter. He wasn't punished. He is out there, currently playing another game, potentially ruining it for 9 more people. Now the question becomes, "How do you fix this?" I think the solution lies in an ip ban. Not an ip ban like Tyler1 where it could take years to prove reform to be unbanned, but instead, consider a temporary ip ban, that lasts a day (or days). This would be a true way to punish people for griefing.
The current system is undeniably flawed. I personally know a few people who have been perma-banned on 3 or 4 accounts for toxicity. Whenever one of their accounts was reported for even a short ban, they would hop onto a different account and be in another game within 10 minutes. That isn't punishment. That isn't even a slap on the wrist. That is a blatant loophole in the system Riot has created that is allowing for griefers and trolls to thrive within the game. Instead of a feeling of success, the instant feedback system in it's current state feels like an insult, claiming to be performing a task that it just isn't doing, and in turn, punishing players who use it. I lost 21 lp and 20 minutes of my life (more if you count me writing this in as well) to this guy for no reason. Under the current system, he is still playing, and I think that needs to change.
TL;DR: I think Riot should implement a temporary ip ban system.
