A permanent suspension based upon.. Talking..?

Dear League players, after spending a good 700€ and achieving level 123 I today found myself permanently banned with as reasoning the following:

'Because a player-triggered review found your in-game comms extremly inflammatory and offensive, your account's been permanently banned'

I would love to share the full chatlog with each and every one of you and receive feedback. Because from my experience, I have reported multiple players for throwing many very offensive insults at people that got away with them, but when I try to solve things without insulting anyone I am permanently banned.

The chatlog below appears to be more offensive to Riot than other players who are actually being racist, sexist and offensive without even trying to hide it.

You could call people get names and get away with it, but when you respond to offences in a more mature way you will be punished, reason; You were focussing to much on typing and not enough on the chat. I'm awaiting the response from Riot, as I have the full game recorded and you will see that the entire chat was only written post game or during revival. Nothing was written during actual gameplay.

Looking forward to your opinions. Oh by the way I am not trying to hide something here, this permanent ban is based upon 1 single game.

You spent the whole game arguing with your allies I asl doubt this is your first punishment correct?

This image shows how Riot's punishment system works. It uses punishment tiers instead of punishing based on the severity of the offense. What would generally be considered chat restriction territory can, if continued long enough, lead to a permanent ban.

You were pretty negative in chat. It's not terrible on it's own, we all have those days, but I can easily see a chat restriction coming from it if you have a long history of chat logs like this one. If you already had a 14 day ban your next punishment would be a permanent ban.

When you got your 14 day ban did you read the warning you were given?

When was your two-week ban? Judging by your match history, you're not a frequent player. Your account doesn't passively return to good standing when you take a break from it; you need to actively demonstrate good behavior to get back into good standing.

I’m level 123, with 390 completed ranked matches in the current season alone. (Not counting games from other seasons or unranked matches).

How is that infrequent? How many games do you need to play before you become a frequent player? That is a poor reply. No offence but I disagree that I “blew it”. If the chatlog I just shown you is classed as “extreme” flamatoury behaviour, than god knows what this community has come to.

Nevertheless, I’ve created a ticket with an appeal, hopefully I can get a second chance just like Nguyen had his permanent ban converted to a 14 day ban. I realise now that the best thing to do is to not respond to any insults at all and just mute the player straight away, even if this limits discussing strategic moves such as baron calls and such.

In this video with Riots Gameplay insights lead Blaustoise, the topic we are on is being discussed, and his personal opinion is also that chat issues should not be punished with account bans, but chat restrictions instead.

I for once received a ticket reply where I was told that I am welcome to play on a new character. So this means that I lose 700€ in skins because I allegedly was being rude to many players, however I can just create a new account and do the same thing again? Something doesnt feel right here because I am still the same person that wasnt welcome on my higher level account where I spend a lot of money on, so why would I be welcome on a free to play account.

That all said, where is the line of toxicity in this game? Because in most games you can express your feelings without being banned. (Please keep in mind that even my previous ban was not given out for throwing insults. Riot is banning people for chatting, and I'd swear that in the UK where Riot is based, Freedom of speech exists.

Below is the reason I was banned for 14 days for. I've seen over the course of the past two years so incredibly many people cursing, that I find it odd thay my behaviour is getting punished when I am clearly the victim..

Sure thing, mate, look, first of all chatting so much indicates the fact that you are more concentrated on the chat than on the game, and that is a punishable offense.

Also pointing out the obvious when players make mistakes or constantly blaming someone is considered to be a toxic behavior, instead you can suggest a solution to the player, and not insist on it if he does not want to cooperate.

A permanent ban follows after you get chat restricted. You were speaking in a condescending tone while in game and then out of the game, you need to learn how to control your emotions. Every single game is different, the only thing that remains the same is you. So don't let it affect you.

You should try and go to Riot Support with this, but don't give up after the first reply. Keep pushing the issue until you get a result that satisfies you.
