I know at least a few people (including myself) that have a hard time not tilting. I don't know if I'm quite reformed but I'm up to honor 3 from 0. Either way, I know that my enjoyment of the game goes way up if I turn on some music and turn off some people.

There was a time when I just took my chat box, and dragged it as off screen as far as I could get it. The amount of focus you can get from not paying mind to toxic chat, is actually insane.
I do use the chat again nowadays, since reforming lol. Hard for me to have fun without talking AT ALL. But I'm extremely keen to mute people almost automatically when they show their colors.
The toxic players are just trying to drag you through a field of !@#$, and I rather like my clothes the way they are.
The Riot folks who put this up had a good idea going into it, I think. They encourage the use of /mute for certain situations.

The moderator here uses /mute too... for a thread that is pointing out that bots being in charge of doling out punishment is actually kind of whack.
People who mute other people should be suspended/banned for not communicating with their team. Why are you even playing a team game if you don't want to interact with your teammates? Is your ego so fragile that you can't handle a few words on your screen?
