We need a way to report players for behavior outside of games. (Fixed)

I got called out previously for leaving names in. My apologies, I didn't catch that part of the rules. Here is the original post with the other person's name edited out:

It's tiring to have other players escape reporting because of the lack of report system beyond post-game lobby. There's a lot of disrespect and harassment that occurs outside of gameplay. Here is the example that really bothered me from my most recent game: The player devalued my opinion because I'm unranked, and called me trash or shit as much as possible. He then looked around my profile and added me for more harassment. Here is the chat log:

> [11:41AM] Hate Star: hi buddy > [11:41AM] -----: oops sorry > i was looking at your profile > [11:41AM] Hate Star: did my lack of playing ranked offend you > [11:41AM] -----: trash > [11:41AM] Hate Star: its ok man > you dont need to obsess over me > im just another player > [11:41AM] -----: yeah ik > theres a lot of bad players > aw you even > dedicated your status to me > so nice > [11:41AM] Hate Star: mhm :) > [11:41AM] -----: youdont need to obssess over me > [11:41AM] Hate Star: well, not just to you > i get that a lot > this one goes out to all of you > [11:42AM] -----: oh i'm not the only one > [11:42AM] Hate Star: i dont like taking the game too seriously, so i dont play ranked > but i get a lot of hate for it then > [11:42AM] -----: no you get hate for it because you're bad lol > [11:42AM] Hate Star: people not valuing my opinion because i just do blind pick > is it ok if i delete you > im not a big fan of verbal harrassment > [11:42AM] -----: yeah please do > [11:42AM] Hate Star: ok <3 > [11:42AM] -----: i dont like garbage on my list. > [11:42AM] Hate Star: better luck next game > hope for the best > [11:43AM] -----: pray i dont get you. ):

For reference, here is what I'd changed my status to: > unranked = bad #LoLLogic

I've searched all over the League of Legends site, and it's frustrating that their report and contact methods are so extremely limited. I couldn't even find a way to get directly in touch with Riot other than submitting a ticket for technical issues and the like. The company talks so constantly about removing the toxicity from the game. If they really mean it, then we need a more reliable system for reporting negative conduct.

When you submit a Support Ticket to report a player, it will get forwarded to a Player Behavior Specialist. They don't give it to technical support.

A couple things here. I've submitted a ticket before about things way worse than this and the response I got from the Riot employee was in a nutshell. "Don't add random players". While at the time I was furious about his seemingly lack of care of what the person was saying it's actually kind of true.

Why should Riot dedicate a banning system for chat rooms outside of their game? They can't possibly police that, first they actually have to do an in-audit to make sure you aren't photoshopping it.

Secondly, it has zero impact on the In-game gameplay and experience,, if you remain to talk to these people..you are pretty much participating in your own abuse. A funny example is when Comedian Louis CK says a guy tried to make a motion for him to move down the window to abuse him while driving and he was like "Why should I roll down my window, I'm sorry i'm not participating in my own abuse"

Pre-game makes sense. Champ select can effect the gameplay and outcome of a game. Post Game you can literally just end all forms of conversation without ANY repercussions with the click of a button.

I personally have had people do this to me and I ONLY entertain adding them when I'm actually in a mood for a laugh, when I get bored and done I just block them. Simple. If I stay post game chat, it's because I want to hear, when I'm done listening or done laughing I just leave. They can try to spam add me and I just block them. Simple..

TL;DR: It would be way too much effort and money invested in something that has absolutely ZERO effect on the actual gameplay of the game. If you are getting harassed post game, it is completely at your own discretion.

I'n really impressed with how you talked with the player. You were extremely polite, and that's a huge thing considering how few people are polite and how even fewer people can stay calm when dealing with angry, mean people.

So you added him to your friends list, didn't remove him when he started saying what he said, and are now crying because your feelings got hurt?

This situation was 100% avoidable by you without impacting your ability to play the game in the slightest. Grow up.

Well, im not big for blaming the victim but...why did you add him if you knew he was a toxic fk?

I've personally stopped adding players I'm not expecting after I had three invites this weekend only to find out it was a trio of kids from the Boards that all added me just to harass me. It was good for a laugh, but not worth the 11 seconds it took me to block them.

Submit the ticket under: "I have a question about league of legends" <--- this is basically the umbrella for all of the above without enticing people to report others.

You can add in the subject line what it is actually about so it'll be easier for them to get it to the right people.

All you had to do was press delete. In a game you can't leave, here you can, so stop bitching

The worst thing you can possibly do on planet Riot, is calling out a thought criminals in this manner. For that there can never be forgiveness.

PDE5 Inhibitors1/5/2016, 12:53:41 AM1 votes

Or you can grow up and block the person instead of instigating them? Oh wait, that would stop your circle jerk.

In all fairness to Riot, adding an option to a drop-down menu is a lot more complicated than it may appear at first.

There are interrnal political issue to consider:

  • establishing a project plan to create the new list item
  • getting a budget for the project and later maintenance projections
  • setting up the meetings and getting buy in from the business on both the concept and
  • the exact verbiage to be used in the potential new drop-down list item

and then, then, there are the numerous technical hurdles:

This live example shows the complexities you might have missed:
