Why is selecting "so-and-so" such a big deal to people?

And by "so-and-so" I mean champions such as:

Galio Karma Yorick Zac Xerath Swain Urgot Nunu

That's all I can think of for now as of champions, I find this kind of an issue for myself when I sometimes solo queue, especially with low elo players

When I play champions such as Yorick, Urgot, I get bashed on by my team like: "Wow, we're gonna lose cause this ****** chose _____. gg"

I don't see what the big deal is for choosing certain champions people like playing.

I'm guessing there's always people thinking that if you choose: Riven Talon Zed etc. they consider themselves gods in the game.

Does this happen to anyone else for choosing underplayed and/or underrated champs?

Had to get this out of my head.

Hey, those losses on Xerath weren't my fault!

Seriously, the only two on that list that make me raise an eyebrow are Galio and Urgot. Not saying they can't work, but I see them so rarely that it makes me wonder how much experience the player has on them.

Because it's not. People want a reason to unleash their accumulated poison at you, and this is nothing more than an excuse they come up with as they do so.

I think that players should play what they want to play. And I think that players that have objections to teammates that play certain champions can always make use of their right to dodge for 3 LP. Then again 3 LP may be too much to pay at higher tiers idk.

I mean it comes down to this: if you see a player choose a champion and you are convinced that the choice will lead to your team losing, then it is well worth the 3 LP to dodge (at least it is at lower tiers). But complaining about your teammates choosing champions that you think will lose is just you being negative. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong in your assessment that your teammate's choice leads to a lost game.

To answer the OP's question, the reason it's such a big deal to some people is that they really feel that certain champion picks have a strong influence over the likely hood of them winning. It doesn't make it right for them to harass you about it regardless of how right or wrong they are.

Urgot is actually one of the best mid lane picks, I fail to see why people would hate him besides being meta-huggers or are simply following the "Urgot is crap joke bandwagon".

more of a trigger setting in for example how many times have you seen someone pick teamo and you roll your eyes and go "merp guess hes going to feed better put on my carry pants"

Cos alot of people just follow what others say on reddit / forums / other social communication tools out there without doing the analysis themselves.

You should see how many people told me "Last Whisper sucks now" even though they are facing a whole team of tanks.

Btw, I also get the hate when I use off-meta. ESP Urgot support.

Because in the past a lot of these champs (Urgot and Nunu especially) have been picked mostly by players intent on trolling. Not that the champ itself is necessarily bad but the player picking them was bad. Teemo also falls into this category. I cringe but play the game out when Teemo gets picked.

Yes, I know this is not a hard and fast rule... (I have played a couple of games with VERY strong Yorick players and I dont even know why Karma would be in this list)... But it has been somewhat true in the past.
