IF YOU'VE SEEN THIS ONE BEFORE POSTED BY ANOTHER PERSON, THAT PERSON IS ME, I POSTED IT ON MY MAIN BY ACCIDENT, DISREGARD IT

So I just got banned for 14 days for reciting what a guy in our team said and slightly talking back to the two players on my team who were griefing and flaming. I recently got banned from my main for 14 days and I took that seriously so I decided to stop my toxic behaviour and start being friendly or not talk at all. Which is what I did, with the exception of this game. So... yeah... I did use some vulgar language in this but it's not so brutal for me to get a 14 day ban, not even a chat restriction. Not sure why this happens.

So this is your problem -- the cuck comment isn't working in your favor, but this language is the stuff that definitely caused you the biggest issue.

Riot has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech, and these words blanked out by the boards are homophobic hate speech. That means the language isn't okay when someone says it as an insult, when someone says it to show what someone else was saying, or even if you're just asking what the word means. Hate speech is a strict no-go on League.

For the future, remember that the system values 1 report as highly as it values 9. There isn't a need to insult other players, or to ask for reports on them, or to repeat the reportable things they've said. Just report them, and it'll be exactly the same as if you convinced 8 other people to report them -- with the exception that your own account will not end up punished for insults or repeating zero-tolerance language. :)

So basically I cannot repeat any sort of offensive behaviour other people use because the system relies too much on the bots to react to the words, rather than an actual person with ethics and human emotions to make the decisions?

Not really. A lot of language (curses especially) is fine, and won't trigger if used in the right context ("that was fucking amazing" vs. "you fucking idiot"). Hate speech, however, is a separate thing, as those words are always steeped in a history of hate regardless of their context.

There's no decision to be made here. Your teammates likely muted the original flamer the second he started flaming. You repeated the horribly negative things he said, forcing them to see hate speech again. It is completely useless to ask for reports. If you think behavior is inappropriate, report it yourself and that's all that's needed.

As it said time and time again, you can fucking swear and say all the god damn curse words you want, but there is no excuse nor leniency for hate speech and harassment. Trust me, I am not that great at league, there are many, many times I say in chat "fuck" or "fucking hell". What I do not say is "you fucker, you missed another god damned skill shot, you worthless pile of shit". That is an example of harassment.

That aside, this isn't an issue of just using foul language, this is using hate speech. Riot doesn't care what words you use outside the game, but when you play, you are expected to be respectful, and not use hate speech. If you can't conduct yourself in that manner, then you should remove yourself from the game, lest it be done for you.

it is a part of zero tolerance policy. Such things shouldn't be said.

Though try to send in a ticket to https://support.riotgames.com and see if they'll overturn the punishment. You were repeating what someone said and it wasn't used in a malicious manner.

No promises though.

There's not more to this than what I'm saying. This is literally it. I got banned on my main and I regret it, I know I shouldn't have said what I said. I took it into account this game and acted calmly even though I was influenced by Garen's and Master Yi's toxic behaviour. Banning me for using the word "cuck", which is literally a word that has been around since Late Old English and barely an insult anymore, is completely ridiculous.

You were also calling reports on garen as well. That's a punishable offense. also in MOST cases there's 2 logs...if you have a 2nd one let us see it.

I just have to ask, why repeat it? You know it is wrong, you know you can get ban for saying it, So why say it? These people you are playing with dont need to know what he called you. The way the system works is that since he was breaking the rules all you needed to do is to report him after the game. You repeating the word just gives him a reason to report you. This should be common sense, but i guess not!

But why? Thats not how reports work? Yours would have been the only one that matter, and if anything there are better ways to tell people what they did if you feel the need to tell them. Just say he was being toxic, or he used a Slur, you dont need to go into detail as these people dont hold the power of banning people. All you need is one report, so telling people to report this person wouldnt make sense since all the system needs is your report!

Regardless what your intentions were, even repeating what someone says furthers the use of hate speech, which is unacceptable. There is no need to "tell others what someone else said" because it will have no benefit besides to tilt an already precarious situation into full blown flaming and toxicity. If you observe this behavior, you can report at the end of the game. doing so is also unnecessary because more reports in a single game do not change the fact that the chat will be reviewed. Getting 9 reports won't make the system review it 9x harder (that doesn't even make sense, honestly). All it takes is a single report to review the (pre-/in-/post-) game chat.

The best course of action is to mute, report, and move on.

I was not condoning his use of hate-speech, therefore it is not furthering the use of hate-speech. There is a difference between using it as proof and using it as an insult, with original words that you, yourself stand by. Which I did NOT.

Condemning and furthering its use are not mutually exclusive. You decided to use the words. It does not matter if you were saying what someone else did or not. That aside, you say "proof" as if it were definitive. All you did is turned it into a hearsay argument. What you wrote proves nothing, and accomplishes nothing positive.

This kind of argument is on equal footing with "I only flamed back in defense". They are both unnecessary and most often have the opposite effect desired.

Yes I agree you were banned for being stupid. Nobody needs a parrot in the chat, if they said such things just report and move along and let the system deal with it, it's quite effective, as you now can see.
