Honest question about banning in champselect.

In my last game the following situation arose: My teammate hovered Lee Sin, I banned Lee Sin, he complained at first but then went Udyr instead, we easily stomped the game and I honored him for sucking it up and just going for something useful.

Ever since the new champselect I view banning my teammates' picks as unconventional but very reasonable move to maximize my chances to win. If I can either ban out my teammates intended pick he has 40% winrate on or a 53% winrate champion for the enemy team, then to me, the only logical thing is to ban out that 40% winrate nonsense.

Is it okay for me to do that?

Yes you can't be punished for banning a champion

The only time I ever consider banning a teammates pick is when he want's to play a current OP champ, and he's last pick.

You can ban any champion for any reason.

However, I would advice that you don't state why you are banning their displayed champion. You should also be aware that it could cause hostility among your team depending on the player(s) involved.

To be honest you better be prepared for a defeat if you ban my intended pick. I showed you who I'm picking so you don't ban it.

I don't really get your syntaxis. But yes, you can ban whatever you want.
