Club Censorship

Recently, a club I'm in was censored for an unnamed reason, presumably for being inappropriate. The club was named "Oppai Masters" with the tag "Boobs". Can we really say that this was so offensive it needed to be changed to "TEMP232132" and "21245" respectively? Frankly, this is blatant and offensive censorship to me. If there was a form of racism, homophobia or discrimination here it would be understandable, but this? Really? A club full of weebs with a name and tag for laughs was worth ruining here? Additionally, we have Evelynn in this game. You heard her special line for purchasing Void Staff? Tell me again after that, that "overtly sexual name" is a valid reason to censor a club name or tag. You can't tell me the game is kid-friendly with Eve and Ahri in the game, so with that assumption, I'm pretty sure we're all adults here and can handle a reference to breasts. Censorship is the worst thing to happen to society and this is pretty blatantly that. Even worse, it's hypocritical at that.

So, lemme get this straight; you had an inappropriate Club name, with an inappropriate Club tag, and your argument against Riot for changing it is the existence of post-VGU Evelynn?

And that is your only argument?

First of all, it doesn't matter if characters have innuendos or what have you - besides, Evelynn isn't the only one with innuendos, y'know. The Champions in League are Champions representative of League's lore - some are going to be dirty, some are going to be prim and proper, but they are just diverse characters in a videogame.

And, just to give a few quotes of innuendos before Evelynn;

"Sorry boys, I leave the fuzzy cuffs at home." - Caitlyn "I can make your pulse rise...Or stop!" - Ahri "How do you like the curves? ...I was talking about the bow." - Ashe

And, gods. Take your pick from Miss Fortune's quotes.

My point being, the characters quotes are just representative of the world Riot has molded and continues to shape for League's lore - they're like little action figures for us to mess around with, for lack of better descriptions. As long as they meet certain standards set out by Riot, they're A-O-K.

On the same note; Players (that's us, and that includes you) have to meet a separate set of standards of behavior, and those standards extend to how we present ourselves - Summoner Names, Club Names, Club Tags, etc., and, much like in the real world, it's generally frowned upon to present yourself with inappropriate content.

Much like you wouldn't go to work and talk on and on and on about sex or other such profanity, Riot expects their players to present themselves cleanly and modestly with their screennames and clubs. Since your Club's name and tag both were inappropriate, Riot saw fit to change it, and they are absolutely free to do so.

And you can argue all damn day about how Evelynn comments on how big the Void Staff is, but you'll never have a solid case, because the Champion's character standards are separate from the player's standards.

Didn't realize I was dealing with an avid Rick and Morty watcher with 200 IQ here. So if your main arguments here, the things your basing the fairness of this censorship on are: A. Champions are content of the game, therefore not subject to the same rules and restrictions as players B. Players are subject to the same restrictions that would be expected of someone in the real world or, in your comparison "at work"

Okay, so champions are characters of fiction and we shouldn't hold them to the same standards as players, in terms of being sexually explicit. So sexual content, the innuendo of Evelynn talking about using Void Staff as a dildo is acceptable. My point, however, isn't the fact that champions aren't being held to the same standards, but that if something is considered inappropriate name-wise or club-wise, it means that it's being considered inappropriate for the audience to see. If the playerbase of this game can't handle "Oppai" or "Boobs" then how can they handle such an explicit reference? Or rather, if they can handle such an explicit reference, how can they not handle "Oppai" or "Boobs"?

Your second argument is simply inherently flawed by the way most people see the internet or anonymity or censorship in general. The internet is a place where you can be expressive of things you couldn't be in the real world. You wouldn't name your child "Umbral Regent" because you're expressing their uniqueness because you're held to different standards in the real world than online. The internet =/= the real world. This game =/= the real world. Damn straight I wouldn't go into work with inappropriate comments, because that's a place of professionalism. But we're both behind a barrier here, so it's okay for you to call yourself that, because you're not held to real life standards. This is a video game, and the people of this club wanted to express a sexual nature, but clearly was not in an overly offensive manner. If the club had a name that was overboard ("your mom's pussy" as an example of something offensive and overboard). I don't think that's unfair whatsoever. At no point did I read coming into this game anything that told me I had to be "modest", but I've been told not to be "offensive" which I can entirely get behind as a restriction. There's a firm difference.

You're not the only person who can right a huge post and act like an intellectual straight from reddit. Your arguments are vague and weak, without a solid disapproval to the main problems with this action Riot made.

There is a difference between innuendo and direct statements.

Says here that Oppai means tits in Japanese. Sounds like you were trying to have some sort of inappropriate club name.

All I have to say is check Evelynn's quotes and tell me the game is intended to be entirely family friendly. You can't argue that this is so inappropriate that it's bannable in comparison.

I was about to type "You make a good point: there shouldn't be a double standard." Then I googled your name. Double standard indeed.

To be fair.

Did you really need to be called Boobs? Really?

The point is that it's an extreme policy of censorship, that, evidently, is not only oppressive, but hypocritical.

There's a fine line between offensive and inappropriate.

There's a fine line between offensive and inappropriate.

Maybe so, but is inappropriate really a valid reason then? If something is so inappropriate it's offensive, then I believe so, but this was definitely not the case here.

It is the case because it got removed. If it wasn't the case, then the name would still remain as it was.

Oh. And I just googled your NAME.

What are you, 12.
