Why is everyone so toxic...

So many people I play with are so toxic and constantly flame others. This is a game, a game is for fun. Learn to have or don't play the game. People shouldn't down others for doing bad, they're still learning and playing for fun. I use League to get away from the bad people in my life and some nights I get on here and see worse people. I just want to quit at that point. Last match I played, our Orianna did bad and two of the players instantly started to hate on her when we got out of game. I decided to take a stand and then I was the one getting all of the hate. I find a lot of supportive people here but there are way more toxic people that players shouldn't have to deal with. It really ruins the fun that League has to offer.

I hear you. I never leave games, but my windows had a critical system failure and frooze. I came back as soon as I could, but the OS applied updates so I was gone about 5 minutes. The rage that I got when I returned to the game was way over the top. To make it worse RIOT popped up a little message to threaten me about it.

I had been taking a break from LOL because years in this community became too much. The last game reaffirmed it for me on both the player and developer sides.

People leave this game because it's so toxic, unfortunately it means that the player base is left with a higher and higher ratio of toxic players. Decent game, but the people you have to share it with ruin the fun and RIOT is not willing to fix that. I have other options now, so I will play one of those games.

Yeah, no one was ever toxic in a video game....

Oh wait Call of Duty still exists. If you want to play with a non toxic community you would have better luck trying, oh idk, a game that's not a real time strategy? Go download a crossword app if you don't wanna compete. Or just idk, play bots? Bots don't talk badly to you, in case you didn't know.

We need to penalize people who are reported for bad behavior, trash talking, feeding and trolling. They need to get penalized much more cruelly than they currently are. I know it can be done. It should be done.

Because they don't model their life perfectly off of the gospel of peace.

It's a competitive game, people want to win really badly and are going to get upset.

The nature of the game breeds a lot of it.

You are randomly matched with 4 other people who you are heavily reliant on and may(and probably do) have different ideas about what is best. And you are stuck with them for the duration of the game no matter what. Snowballing also creates a lot of frustration, even though it is also one of the things that makes the game so satisfying. You face someone a little better than you, lose the first engage. Now you are fighting someone who is still a little better than you but also tangibly stronger than you. So you have to make up way more than the skill difference you started with to catch back up.

A lot of people use games as an escape like you do, but a lot use it as a way to vent their frustration rather than just escape it. Similar to how a parent hitting a child can lead to the child hitting the dog.

yea man, it sucks but you gotta report them and move on. End of the season some people get really toxic cause they wanna win so badly.

People are toxic because they forget that it's just a game. You're not playing competitively, you're not playing for any real life rewards, you're playing a video game on the computer for FUN. If there was something real at stake, I could understand being upset with someone not performing up to standards. However, if someone is feeding, we don't make the best of the situation, WE FLAME HIM TO NO END. We could try out an experimental build or do anything that you find fun for that matter, and just make the match as enjoyable as possible, when someone underperforms to the point that you can no longer win. But again, we don't do that. Because we're humans. And humans are asshats.

Some people find it fun to troll lol

DuffleMonsta11/11/2015, 7:29:03 AM1 votes

Best part is the same toxic players then start saying they will report people for various things and try to get the whole team and enemy team to report individuals after the match ends for things that don't make sense or didn't even happen. God forbid the rest of the players in the match are in the mood to be toxic or troll and now someone is getting actually punished for having a bad game or standing up for someone else having a bad game. The system is only as good as the community but if the community is toxic what does that make the system?

It sucks that the toxic jerks have a larger impact than the nice players on how enjoyable the game but at least it seems there are more nice people than jerks. One option if you are getting too many jerks is to go into the forum and find someone else to play with.

This is a competitive game, there's a difference. It being a game doesn't make it any less time-consuming. It's also not an excuse to play like complete shit.

This is not the worst thing about the community all of NA particularly hate to death Bronze and Unranked Players, that hate has been going on for many seasons and sadly No matter what riot implements in the tribunal Toxicity will get stronger than ever

this is my story for 3 whole years now of pure hate, if this dose not convinced you then idk what will, but in the end the community for me has always been like this.
