Riot Doesn't take the Source of a report into Consideration

So, I am pretty sure this does nothing but after years and years of playing this game on various accounts I finally feel I need to say something (and since riot has no interest of properly addressing individual issues) I need to do it here! So these are chats from two games, where I was either blatantly trolled/ viciously flamed by teammates (not for my poor play) but just simply for disagreeing with them or not going to their lane to help them when they are 0/6 at 7 minutes. I got chat restricted for the below comments, which seems weird because in both these games I was not very toxic at all and only defended myself once someone become toxic towards me. So my question is, if someone flames me...ints my game, or is toxic and reports me, and I'm not petty enough to report them, does Riot not care about the source of the report? You wouldn't follow the opinion of a criminal or liar to determine your moral compass, so why does riot not take reports from players that exhibited for more toxic behavior in the game with a grain of salt? I'm not saying I'm a saint but I really don't think anything I said in these games was offensive or reportable, especially in context of what I was responding to, which conveniently isn't taking into consideration when dishing out penalties. Every response in all these games (outside of beneficial information, roams, wards, objectives, etc) was a response to an extremely toxic comment/action from either the enemy team or a teammate, and I doubt any of them got restricted in any way. For instance game 2, I muted the nidalee after the 10 min mark because she was flaming me so hard, and apparently during that time she was able to rally the enemy team thru all chat (without my knowledge cause I had her muted) to report me as well, So toxic player A rallies others against Player B cause Player B took the high road and muted Player A....what am I to do in that scenario? Just sick of riot treating people who say things in chat as being the end of the wall, the final stand against toxicity, when in reality the much tougher to manage and more prevalent issue would be players inting/trolling in games.

Why would source of report matter? All that matters is whether u broke rules or not.

While true, if a criminal or liar reports a crime and my investigation of said report shows that a crime has indeed been committed, than a crime has been committed, and that's really what matters here.

The most toxic player in the UNIVERSE could report me, and, if my chat contained problematic language, I would deserve the appropriate punishment.

So why does riot not take reports from players that exhibited for more toxic behavior in the game with a grain of salt?

Two reasons.

  1. The system doesn't look at logs unless a report triggers it, so it doesn't know who was toxic and who wasn't ahead of time.
  2. Their toxicity does not excuse yours.

No... but you'd still take them seriously if they report a crime they've been victim of. I mean, seriously, this is what you base your entire argument on? Sorry, but the idea that criminals shouldn't be protected by laws is an archaic point of view that has absolutely no place in a civilized society.

As for the assumptions you make on the system:

Number of reports (in a single game) is absolutely meaningless. Rallying people to report you is considered toxic by itself and thus makes it more likely that they will be punished... if you report them, which brings us to the next point:

If you're no "petty" enough to report people then it is indeed less likely for them to get restricted... but if you choose to not use the system that's not a flaw of the system.

Trolling and inting isn't considered less important by Riot, it's just significantly less easy to deal with than chat toxicity. You yourself said "when in reality the much tougher to manage and more prevalent issue would be players inting/trolling in games". How do you manage to make a point yourself - and even in your final statement - and then still ignore it? Apart from that, it's clearly not the more "prevalent" problem. It might be the more pressing one, but there are clearly more flamers than there are trolls.

Also, fun fact: Whenever I see such a ridiculously biased poll I vote precisely the way the OP (probably) doesn't want me to vote. If you don't want peoples' input don't post a poll. If you want peoples' input don't try to relativize your own position while twisting the opposite position into an extreme.

Just a chat restriction? That's strike 1 or 2 depending on how long they are. Let's see, what is here that warranted a punishment. Ah how about:

  • Flaming your own team. Whether or not they're trolling or inting is irrelevant. They got the reaction they wanted, you fell for it.

  • Threatening afk. I don't care what is going on, you afk, you put your team in an even deeper hole by afking. If they're trolling, you stooped to their level

You can't seem to control your emotions and you got punished. You have another chance to realize this behavior is not ok. Stop reacting and getting in petty squabbles over internet and focus on the game. Good luck in the future and on your future games.

Accusing others of inting is not constructive. You seem to know that being constructive is important to teamwork and cooperation... so you should probably take your own advice.

There is your problem there, your are mistaken in what is permitted in game.

There is no need for "context" or " justification " in that case .

If someone intentionally feeds/ afk etc and you flame them for it - you desrve to be punishing just as much as they do.

If someone calls you every name in the book and makes up some new ones -- and you respond

you deserve to be punished just as much as they do.

If someone simply isn't answering your pings , chat or playing the way you think they should and you "call them out"

You deserve to be punished

It does not matter "why" you did it ...the fact is you did . That's the only think that matters in the above cases.

No matter what game mode your in certain things just are not allowed reacting to anything you dont like in game is one of the things not allowed,

In other words you ( according to Riots behavioral policy) have no right to

  • be verbally abusive/ verbally offesive
  • react or "defend yourself" against others being verbally abusive
  • chastise those legitimately breaking the rules
  • Chastise those who you don't agree with
  • complain about anything
  • Rant about any personal grievance in the game
  • giving any type of negative commentary regarding whats happening in the game

Doing any of the above can lead to various punishments including permaban's

So here is the lessons you should take from this on the mature and civilized way to handle things which will also ensure you are following Riots behavioral guidelines

So yes if someone is saying the most vile insults to you ever spoken,

the proper action according to Riot is mute and report without any response including " report x or i'm muting you"

If any amount of people are breaking every game play rule in the book

The proper action according to Riot is ignore them don't respond with anything -- even "report x"

yes you might lose a match and some lP if in ranked its still just a video game and not a serious life or death situation if you do.

and really---

Which is the best coarse of action if you don't want to be punished given Riots current policy?

1 Not reacting or responding in any way shape or form and losing a match and some Lp ...which really has no "real value" and can eventually be replaced

2 Reacting, "defending yourself", "sarcastic " responses, chastising rule breakers or simply just complaining about think you don't like in game and risking losing your entire account that does have monetary value?

The safest option is in other words if you cant say anything positive ..without being sarcastic about it .. don't say anything at all.

If you pick option 2 its inevitable that you will eventually end up perma banned
