He's 100% right tbh. And you can't perma ban someone for what they say in friend chat, especially when you're the one who added them knowing they're toxic

I doubt Riot would take action in this case, since you specifically chose to open contact with them despite knowing that they were toxic.

That doesn't excuse their behavior, but it still stands to reason that you could have chosen not to connect with them.

Additionally, you could have just as easily been tormenting that player to illicit responses that would get them banned. Just one more reason Riot wouldn't punish the person solely based on this.

The fact that your post's title has a smiley-face in it leads me to believe this could very likely be the case. If you had wanted to console the player or calm them down you would have done so rather than get offended and post about it here on the boards.

Proper course of action is always the same, report them in the post-game lobby, and move on.

No action will be taken, sorry. No one has been able to find a single case of someone being banned for direct messages outside of the game. There may be an exception for those spam bots advertising boosting services, but I doubt it.

I believe that pre-game lobby chat and post-game lobby chat are readable to Riot, but they don't count it into their punishments, same goes for you when you add the toxic player just to light them up even more and encourage them to behave like this just for your entertainment. People are only punished for talking like this in the game
