Why was I chat restricted for this game?

It was a normals. I wanted to mess around with an off-meta pick. I went brand bot lane, I have mastery 7 on him and even when I go off-meta I always try my hardest to win. I never try to lose. My support Tahm Kench and I died level 1 when we got to lane. I said nothing more than "wow" twice. Tahm immediately began trying to type at me about what I did wrong. Once he did that I said, "Muteddddd". I kept him muted all game. He began taking my farm, eating me and spitting me out into my death. He would also save the enemy from my full combo and eat them at the last second. He trolled every single member of our team this way. Took farm, split when we needed him, and then would eat us at terrible times when the rest of us tried to group and team fight. Worst of all the enemy team encouraged him all game. All. Game. Even with Tahm intentionally trying to make me die to them, I ended up going 21/10 something for kills and deaths. I will admit at times I used foul language at the enemy team. How could I not? These guys spent almost 70 minutes of everyone's time trying to get a rise out of us, making every single second unenjoyable. Yet somehow, I get chat restricted. I'm so confused, and very frustrated to have the most unenjoyable experience i've ever had with this game end in a punishment against me after all of that. I love this game. I like having a good time. I always try my best. I'm not always kind, and I need to work on that, but how on earth do I get reported and a Tahm who put his entire being into ruining my experience? Or people who encourage that kind of behavior?

Without getting to see your chat logs it is hard to say exactly. Sharing them would help us greatly in identifying the issue.

That said, if I had to take a guess, it was this:

It's easy to avoid doing this -- simply mute them and ignore their antics. If you respond with toxic behavior, then all you are really doing is letting them succeed at their goal of getting a rise out of you and causing you to stoop to their level. Any toxic behavior puts your account at risk, so you're not only not solving the issue -- you're making your account vulnerable at the same time.

Note that it's also possible that they got punished as well, or that they will soon. The punishment system only alerts you if you are the LAST report that got someone punished, and it's possible that someone else on your team got that indicator, or that they still have another few games to go before their behavior catches up to them.

I guess the results just make me very sad. I never behave this way usually. 70 minutes. 6 people trying to ruin your day. Just....why?

A lot of this post is directed at what others did in this game. What the Tahm did does sound like he could be punished for it. But, this punishment was for your behavior. You're bound to come across other toxic players, but to keep from getting another punishment, you gotta put behind you other toxic players' actions and focus on your actions.
