Perma Banned for cussing no more than a day after people spamming "Die Korean" for an entire match

Just as the title says, some arguing and a few cusswords result in a permanent banning no more than a day after someone spammed "Die Koreans" "Die Chinese" repeatedly through the entirety of prematch and all game. Not to mention the constant bombardment of hate speech, foul mouthed talking about my mother and family. An absolute joke. Absolutely no notice of them being banned (as was typical the handful of times people I reported actually got punished). Riot may as well just dig in my pocket and steal from me. 9 out of every 10 games have people leaving, afking or spending the entirety of the match spouting homophobic or racial slurs and they take no issue with that. Absolute rip-off. DO NOT INVEST ANY MONEY IN THIS GAME. Play something else where you won't have to listen to vile hatred being spewed and they can't just absolutely steal product from you when they deem your cusswords too offensive cause some hateful troll wants to punish you for arguing back at them. I received the same language and treatment as I was giving out I just didn't file a ticket because I know nothing ever happens. Do not waste your money. Do not waste your time.

Each person is responsible for their own behavior. Instead of joining them in a shouting contest, mute, report, and move on.

You just got done saying that you were perma-banned. Reports do cause a review of behavior.

Ah. Okay. So I'm just as bad as someone spewing racial slurs or wishing death upon a nation of people. Makes total sense. After years and years with this game and a shameful investment of money some cussing disallows me from playing something I paid for, even in private custom matches. I bet the anti Korean player is still playing though, despite me reporting them. Cause why not right?

It's absolutely relevant. I purchased product and I cannot even log in. That is theft. Period. You wanna say Ranked ban, that's fair. However, I bought a product and I am not even free to use that product privately with friends anymore. Absolutely no other game can get away with that.

Plenty of online games can and do "get away with it". They are free to ban your account according to their terms.

Because the damage is done once they've read your comment. Muting is a last resort to prevent further damage.

Just because we have fire hydrants it doesn't mean house fires are OK.

If you've gotten to the point of being permabanned, it either means you were consistently toxic or you used a ton of hate speech / homophobic slurs / telling others to harm themselves.

Eitherway, go play something else, Riot doesn't want you in their game.

Well, it makes it valid as no other company seems to have the right to take a product you purchase away from you due to misconduct. At the very least let's make the punishments balanced no? I would like to know that the people I have reported for using racial and homophobic slurs or aggressively telling people to kill themselves have been banned permanently as well. Certainly, those sorts of things should have a zero tolerance response.

If I am responsible for my behavior, than they should be held responsible for theirs. Ban their accounts as well and I will accept that my punishment is balanced as well. Why is blatant racism and literally telling people to "kill yourself" tolerable? At all?

Your purchases are an agreement with Riot that they will let you have access to their content so long as they think you're following the ToS.

Racial slurs and telling people to kill themselves already often get escalated punishments (14-day or permaban for the first offense is not unusual). I can't comment on your case because I neither know what was in your chat log nor do I know what step of the punishment ladder you were on previously.

If I am responsible for my behavior, than they should be held responsible for theirs. Ban their accounts as well and I will accept that my punishment is balanced as well.

Seems as though it is acceptable considering I never received a notice after reporting them that action was taken, which has been the case the very few times before that something was actually done.

Their system is a joke.

The notice system is lackluster and often is picky when sending out the notifications of punishments. Sometimes you only get one when it's your report specifically that was the last straw to send them a punishment verdict.

Given that their behavior included a bunch of racial slurs, you might only get the notification once their ban has been reviewed and escalated.

Ultimately, the notification is not a good indication if someone you reported was punished or not.

Regardless, they have no insured that I will never spend a cent on any product produced by their company or that is in anyway affiliated. On top of that, I will make certain to let everyone know that they condone racism, homophobia and actions that incite or encourage violence against groups and/or oneself without punishment. In addition to that, I will encourage people to most certainly NEVER spend money on their product as it can and likely will be taken away from them for actions far less inflammatory. Riot Games: Turning a blind eye to bigotry and punishing those who respond to people who spew inflammatory filth at you. In other words, just sit and read the absolute garbage people spew at you (which you CANNOT mute pregame, or postgame) and don't defend yourself or others because that same hateful troll will report you. I am under no delusion that I can make any sort of dent in their business but I assure you, I will cost them money. The climate here is not very tolerant at all of bigots, or those who who turn a blind eye to it. DO NOT invest in the product. Use it for free and put your money into other businesses.

I'm pretty sure that they're aware that customers who are perma-banned might spread their dissatisfaction of the company. They understand this risk and decided that perma-banning players that behave poorly in some combination of frequency and severity is still better for the game.

You claim that Riot condones racism, but if you look at this section of the boards you'll see several cases where a person's punishment was escalted for racism, bigotry, or telling someone to kill themselves. So that statement is just blatantly false.

You'd have me fooled with the vast majority of every game I play involving hate speech at some point or another. They most certainly do NOT police that at all. The community is vile and toxic and the amount of absolutely deplorable speech I've read is beyond counting. Pregame lobbies, post game and very often through out the entire match. There is no way they are punishing these people. Period.

I wanna know the justification for banning me for using the "f" word but nothing being done to the seemingly endless throngs of people spewing racial and homophobic slurs? How is that balanced? Who thinks those two things are even remotely related? How do you take something I've invested money in for me simply cussing? Words that other players can easily filter out? When not only that they can just turn my chat off? I didn't, and certainly never have, used any hate speech or encouraged or wished harm on anyone else. How is that balanced?

Riot already tried that. Didn't work. People who had poor enough behavior to land themselves as far as a perma-ban did not stop behaving poorly just because chat was turned off for them. They would often start behaving poorly via other means like trolling.

I cannot filter out "Die Koreans" or "Kill yourself". I can also not filter out the things that have been said about my mother nor can I filter out people who type intentionally in a way to bypass the chat filter. So, no. You are incorrect here.

It's called mute. It immediately halts all text communication from them from reaching you.

Does this stop what was already said? No. But that's why you report them at the end of the game.

Mute is not an option in the pre-game lobby or the post game lobby.

Minimize the screen once you've chosen your champion.

In post game lobby you can leave the lobby.

Where are your chat logs. I bet you did a lot more than cuss.

They didn't steal from you. They produce content in which they allow you to play. You don't have to pay, but you did. Riot owns your account. If they wanted too, they could shut down the servers in a blink of an eye and not get in any trouble because you agree to their ToS every patch.
