riot decided to ban me because I people start talking shit first then I come back at them lol I forgot have a text filter meant something. there is a mute option for a reason. if you are doing dumb things to make me lose elo I'm gonna call you out on it riot just wants everyone to like a wonderland where everything people do is fine and no one is supposed to be mad and just let it go. yeah my jungler is feeding kills to every lane by making terrible ganks then talk shit to me I'm supposed to be super positive and tell him everythings gonna be okay. get the fuck outta here ill just go make a new account. riots system is retarded

I wouldn't normally rank-shame, but it's kinda bizarre that you're Bronze 3, 41% win rate, and think that you're so incredibly good at the game that it's your mission to forcefully "educate" the people around you.

If you're frustrated with your low rank, focus on your own skills, not those of your teammates.

Unless you're matched with team members who think they are flawless, in which case why bother, your team knows when they mess up. They don't need some rando pointing out that the bad thing was a bad thing. You're not telling them anything useful, and are just venting in a non-constructive way.

The other side of this is if you actually have the name Captain Obvious when you do this you're much less likely to get reported by the people you're pissing off.

Telling somebody they suck is actually very constructive if they don't think you're just being a dick. Most people actually think they're good at the game, and think teammates are the only reason why they ever lose. When in reality they are just terrible at the game and are making mistakes they don't even notice.

While that is true to some extent usually when someone makes a mistake they already know that they did wrong. Because of it the last thing they need is someone yelling and raging at them every time they mess up. Also, there's a right and wrong way to give advice. For example:

"try hugging tower more so you can farm minions safer" is good advice as you're offering them a potential solution to the problem while being respectful about it. "Hey! start hugging tower more you noob" is not good advice as instead of suggesting that they hug tower you're demanding they do so in a rude and disrespectful manner.

From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

I don't think that I should be punished for trying to give advice.

If you have been hit with a punishment, that likely means that you are being negative in your “advice” towards others. As an example, “stop feeding” is not good advice. The negative connotation around “feeding” in this game makes you seem hostile and accusatory, and will likely cause more problems than it solves. On top of that, you’re not actually giving advice, you’re only telling them what not to do rather than HOW they can stop feeding. Better advice would be to “hug your turret and wait for a gank” or “help bot snowball, I’ll be fine once we get to late game.”

Even if you are being positive or neutral with your advice, it is likely to be misconstrued as negative for a whole host of reasons:

  • While in a Ranked game, we are likely more stressed than normal, which makes us more likely to lash out at someone, even if they are trying to genuinely help
  • We often associate our teammates with raging idiots rather than people genuinely trying to help us.
  • Text has no tone of voice, so because of the above, it can easily be misconstrued (we all have our stories of that time it happened to us, even between friends and family).
  • You are at the same elo, and as a result at about the same skill level, as your allies, and are therefore not in a position to give advice to them.
  • You don’t know the mentality of the one with whom you’re giving advice to.

I want to talk about the final point especially, as there can be any number of things going on behind the screen that you don’t know about. They could be tired, or drunk, and therefore playing more sluggishly. They could be actual trolls, and don’t care what you have to say. They could already know what they’re doing, but for whatever reason (going on tilt, tunnel vision, etc), forget to act on that knowledge or experience. Or they could be genuinely unsure as to what to do. In all but the last one, they are going to be less than willing to accept anything that you say to them. Even if someone means well when they tell me how to improve in the game, I often already know what they’re trying to say, and am already beating myself up over it. Telling me what I’m doing wrong and how to improve merely irritates me even more, makes me more self-aware, and then mess up more as a result of over-thinking something.
