Going to the Dark Side

So I just realized this after my most recent post where I got 14 day ban for calling a griefer "pathetic" and a "worthless feeder" as he was about 1/9 when I said that. Also for calling an inting Hecarim out on his trolling by saying "also you should learn how to troll cause you're pretty bad at it" after he admitted to trolling during champ select. My post has -4 votes and the overwhelming comments are people telling me I deserve the ban. Okay sure, whatever.

I understand that the large majority of the community are okay with getting silently harassed in game, and Riot's policy on what other player's say and do to you is "just turn the other cheek, boy", but personally I'm not okay with it and since Riot won't do anything about the trolls, griefers and intentional feeders, but surely punishes me once I slightly lose my cool because of it then here is my response.

Edit: Oh btw, this game mode is fun too.

Edit #2: The level of denial when defending your broken banning system and the amount of passive-aggressive insults hurled at me in this post is beyond pathetic. No wonder most of the community does not use these boards to try to resolve anything.

The secret :

  1. Gank mid but continue to chase the enemy past mid tower and die.
  2. Go support but pick brand or velkoz (or literally anyone else) and consistently take as much CS as you can.
  3. Stay AFK for the first 3-4 minutes of the game then go HAM on a higher level enemy.
  4. Turn off your brain and just follow through with every single exchange no matter what the situation is.
  5. Pick Anivia and wall in your allies or block them as they try to escape, or use it to save enemies. You can also stop recalls, also with trundle, etc.
  6. Bait your allies, making them think you're going to help but really you're just there to watch them die.
  7. Go jungle, grab both buffs but then go die top or to the enemy adc (whichever is better)
  8. Never, ABSOLUTELY NEVER group.
  9. Many more...

Do all of this while those poor fools who were trying to have a good game and were trying to win ask you why, ask you to stop, beg you, and ultimately turn a little toxic on you. THEN report them post game because they verbally abused you and watch them come here to complain about their chat restrictions or bans because they harassed you. Then watch the community defend the decision and laugh.

Can you see me laughing and enjoying myself through all of them?

"haha I'm enjoying myself so much ruining people's fun because I have no self control. Is that the sun rising?"

Oh hey, passive-aggressive hypocrisy

You're not allowed to be a dick on forums or in game.

Quit being a dick, dude.

Very edgy.

I'm both intimidated and aroused.

The thing is about people like yourself, you never last. So, do what you do. By the time you're done, players will be doing what they've always done even when you were trolling. Moving on.

You're hardly a fart in the wind.

An attempt at guilt tripping? Won't work. Trolls are bad at those.

As for not lasting. You'll know and you'll see what I mean eventually.

Which post? And which comment? I've had a lot of replies because I made a poll earlier about where people put their potions in their inventory. 56 replies when I logged in.

Troll for Trump1 votes

That's not guilt tripping, it's sarcasm about the system.

When you see a troll and say anything remotely negative, you risk punishment.

You're supposed to mute, play, and move on, but that often doesn't happen.

If you were to experience this in game, you'd probably be marked for "passive-aggressiveness" and/or "verbal abuse"

Based on your over-the-top response I'm fairly certain you're the type that can't handle inting/blatant trolling calmly

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

Well, you should never assume because that's how you make an ass out of yourself. Out of my nearly 8 years playing on this account. I've done none of that, and for my next 8 years will continue to play to the summoner's code. What I do and say on the forums has nothing to do with what I do in the game because we're NOT in the game.

I don't need to be certain about you on anything. Because I know for a fact, regardless of your belief, you're not certain of anything when it comes to me. Because you know nothing about me or what I do. So It'd be best to keep your assumptions to yourself before you make yourself anymore silly than you just did as soon as you spoke.

Don't reply back, I won't be reading your next response nor replying back to you. But if you need to type it out to for no one to see but to yourself. Feel free to.

Uh plugging your ears doesn't do anything.

Don't be so overdefensive

Also, you have certainly not 100% adhered to the summoner's code. No one has; you can't really avoid being passive-aggressive.

The same rules in-game generally apply to Boards as well, so you shouldn't be a dick here or there,or anywhere for that matter.

Also would be great if you would address the other points I made too

Unfortunately, the OP is completely right. That's the drawback of having a computer do a human's job. Or having humans too lazy to actually put in the work. Nothing in the -real- world works the way it does with Riot's draconian "care bear Alice in Wonderland Lollipop don't worry be happy" policies. But hey it's their game, and it's their God given right to set their rules. But it's also our own choice and our own God given right not to support this company by giving them money. Eventually this game will die a gory death, once the money infusion dries up, or it will be bought out by some other corporation. The NBA owners have far more money than Riot does.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Not really. People deal with trolls every day, most of us just choose not to become apes because someone is ruining the game. Guess what, when they don't get the reaction they want, they get bored.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Most people confront trolls in real life when they do encounter them. They generally do the same online, but Riot prevents that.

That's not being an ape, that's a pretty normal response.

Hell, in real life, even being "bad but trying" isn't acceptable for many situations.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Confront how? Tell me, what do you do? You see a guy at Target trying to make you angry by calling you fat. What do you do? Do you start shouting and calling him racial slurs?

Troll for Trump1 votes

No, you report him and get him fired for randomly calling you fat for no reason. Calling you fat would also just be considered flaming, not trolling. Trolling in real life, if you could call it that, would require someone being a huge asshole. If you're trying to work on a project, and someone deletes the file "for the lulz," you would probably snap, start yelling and/or hitting, and try to get revenge in whatever way you can.

In addition, both in-game and in real life, people resorting to slurs are an incredibly small percentage, even among the "toxic" people

Again, in both situations, it's normal for someone to confront trolls.

Of course you don't shout in real life (some do), you deal with it in one of the many ways you can in real life.

In game, what can you do?

  1. Mute. Does nothing. Plugs your ears to the problem
  2. Troll/int. It gets your "revenge," but is punishable and is a dick move
  3. flame back. Gets "revenge" punishable . Not a dick move to others.

Basically, you can't do anything. Everything you do is either punishable or doesn't immediately solve the problem. Mute and move on is not a solution.

You whole post is truly and epically facepalm worthy ......LOL You are not worth the time or the effort to point out everything wrong with that post its barely worth the time for to respond to these 2 points.

For the millionth time, can you stop being a dick and harassing me?

It is not any players problem to solve in game ...

Yeah, going premade does actually solve the problem. You don't get to go full 5-man premades every game, however.

Dealing with Inters/afkers is not sinking to their level. It's calling them out. Why should I just let them do whatever they want for the rest of the game? Because Riot's system will eventually punish them and anything I respond with increases the chance of me being punished? That's not an immediate fix

It is the ONLY mature and civilized solution.... a mature civilized person and player would have no problem realizing this....

It's not a solution if it doesn't fix the problem. It's not mature of civilized, it's just a passive response. You're not responding to the problem, you're just allowing it to happen. That's basically why I don't like it.

The only way it will do anything is if the player eventually gets punished.

if you are raging over the status or outcome of a mere video game that is completely something wrong with the player ....

Maybe there is a problem with me for wanting to win every game

I have tried the "muting and moving on" approach, but nothing came out of it (did it the last time I encountered a troll in ranked with some double jg gimmick that was forced on the rest of the team) I was still tilted post-game by the troll, and I still lost the game.

I guess I didn't get reported, and they could get punished eventually, but again, nothing came out of it.

also read the response i gave to 5th it applies to you as well it seems.

Can you hyperlink?

He's trying to make you mad, not calling you a moron who sucks at your job

No, I'd simply tell whoever I'm doing it for. If it's a personal project I'm cutting ties with that person.

In addition, both in-game and in real life, people resorting to slurs are an incredibly small percentage, even among the "toxic" people

I see it quite a lot actually, they have anger issues

Again, in both situations, it's normal for someone to confront trolls.

Of course you don't shout in real life (some do), you deal with it in one of the many ways you can in real life.

If they're flaming and I mute, now they're not flaming

  1. Troll/int. It gets your "revenge," but is punishable and is a dick move

Why would I troll? Unless all 4 people on my team are a premade, I wouldn't consider ruining the game for 3 random people.

  1. flame back. Gets "revenge" punishable . Not a dick move to others.

Why flame? I can just mute him without responding.

Basically, you can't do anything. Everything you do is either punishable or doesn't immediately solve the problem.

Read above

Mute and move on is not a solution.

You sure? Worked pretty well for me for 4 years.

Troll for Trump1 votes

No, I'd simply tell whoever I'm doing it for. If it's a personal project I'm cutting ties with that person.

You don't get that option. You can't leave in-game, you have to deal with the troll for the whole period of the time. There's no distancing yourself from them. You can only "tell" after the game, which, by then, is too late

I see it quite a lot actually, they have anger issues

Really? I rarely see it. I thought Riot did a pretty good job of removing racial/homophobic slur from the Tribunal days.

I don't think it's anger issues (they probably also have it), because being angry wouldn't necessarily lead to slurs. They might think that using slurs is another generic insult like "idiot" (not sure). Otherwise, how would using the N-word/F-word even be insulting to someone who's not African-America/homosexual?

If they're flaming and I mute, now they're not flaming

No, they aren't flaming to you. They'll take their anger out in gameplay and on others. If you aren't tilted from the flame before you muted them, they probably are. It's still going to increase the odds of losing the game, and muting doesn't really help get rid of that.

Why would I troll? Unless all 4 people on my team are a premade, I wouldn't consider ruining the game for 3 random people.

That's why I called it a dick move. I don't think it's a reasonable situation, and I'm pretty sure most would agree. But I've seen it done before by a few people, so it's still an option. Just a really bad one that screws with everyone.

Why flame? I can just mute him without responding.

Muting doesn't feel like you're dealing with the issue, just plugging your ears and shoving it in a corner and pretending it's not there.

You sure? Worked pretty well for me for 4 years.

How so? Because you didn't get punished?

I'm trying to say that "muting and move on" has no way of immediately dealing with the issue. How can muting and moving on help win the game with the troll/inter/flamer?

It won't. It just has a chance of possibly eventually getting the toxic player punished. It's not an immediate solution.

I said report to whoever I was working for, and in this case I report to Riot.

Really? I rarely see it. I thought Riot did a pretty good job of removing racial/homophobic slur from the Tribunal days.

You can't stop new people from saying it, we can only punish them until they learn/quit.

I don't think it's anger issues (they probably also have it), because being angry wouldn't necessarily lead to slurs. Anger leads to slurs, take it from someone who works in a grocery store, when people get angry they start calling white people the N word.

No, they aren't flaming to you. They'll take their anger out in gameplay and on others. If you aren't tilted from the flame before you muted them, they probably are. It's still going to increase the odds of losing the game, and muting doesn't really help get rid of that.

Reason number 1 why perma chat restrictions were removed btw, and that just makes it easier to report them and get them banned. Talking back only makes them angry. In my experience, if I say nothing to them other than "gj" or "Udyr no flash" they they begin to mellow out.

That's why I called it a dick move. I don't think it's a reasonable situation, and I'm pretty sure most would agree. But I've seen it done before by a few people, so it's still an option. Just a really bad one that screws with everyone.

Muting doesn't feel like you're dealing with the issue, just plugging your ears and shoving it in a corner and pretending it's not there.

Am I hearing them flame me anymore? Is anyone in the game telling me to kill myself? No? I think I dealt with it. Same way how I deal with the loud lawnmowers outside in the mornings, I just put in my headphones and play music/videos until they're gone, like the end of the game.

How so? Because you didn't get punished?

Not only have I never been punished in game, I never feel tilted about it later or have it last in my mind.

I'm trying to say that "muting and move on" has no way of immediately dealing with the issue. How can muting and moving on help win the game with the troll/inter/flamer?

Not everything has an immediate solution. Just today I had some bad mozzarella sticks at work, and 2 hours ago I was in the bathroom gagging and about to vomit. I don't have anything for that so I had to deal with it. But I learned how to prevent it from happening, which is what Riot's punishment system does for the most part, prevents them from going around doing it again and again.

It won't. It just has a chance of possibly eventually getting the toxic player punished. It's not an immediate solution.

Again, only thing that could be immediate is the game ending as soon as someone say "kys" and that person being instabanned while everyone goes to a new game, which would be horrible.
