What are your thoughts/opinions on the current state of the LoL community?

I was just filling out the feedback survey that is on the LoL Client and they asked a couple of questions that really hit me and I am curious to see if anyone else in the community thinks the same way as me; so here goes.

It had a question asking about how player behavior has effected me and my experience with League of Legends. Thinking back on it, when I first started playing League it was through a friends' recommendation. I tried it out and played with him quite frequently and I would usually just mute everyone in the game so I could see what he would be telling me to do and such; but as time went on, he got married and stopped playing as much so I started playing by myself more often and the more I played by myself (without the other players muted) the more I noticed how extremely volatile and toxic everyone was. It didn't seem to matter how "big" or "small" the mistake you made was, everyone would constantly flame you and blame you for the loss and threaten to report you. I'm not sure about everyone else but it seems to me that when you're new to a game you're not just going to be automatically professional tier skill leveled and going flawless with no mistakes made ever. Yet it seems like that is exactly what the majority of the community expects.

I could go on further but i'm sure almost everyone understands where i'm coming from and honestly i'd like to hear everyone else's opinion on the matter. Feel free to message your thoughts and opinions on this. It is honestly my biggest hope that we get the attention of Riot and possibly help them work out a solution to this "wildfire" of toxic players in the community. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

My thoughts are it has way too man kids. Like you can tell its full of kids 16 and younger who just wanna act hard and shit on people that actually wanna play competitive and the right way. I think there should be an age limit and you should have to prove your age. I think you should be at least 17, you have no idea how much shit that would cut down on. And just for everyones information im not 17 lol im 21.

In bronze1 where I'm at, I rarely see the very toxic KYS / wishing cancer chats. I see some passive aggressive chats every 3-4 games or so, which I easily filter out in my brain and focus on the gameplay.

I see that most of the toxicity can be diffused pretty easily, especially when you aren't firing back, or just plainly ignoring them. I even recommend the "attacked" to mute the "attacker". Sometimes a civil gameplay discussions can happen, and most people seem to know that toxicity doesn't help winning games and are willing to appologize for their mistakes. They are willing to work things out when they know the team won't chew them out.

It might just be me, but that's how most of my games go. It might be something to do with being in the higher bracket of the tier, where most people are very focused on winning cos they want to get out of that tier.

It could be much better and it could also be much worst. The majority of players I see are neutral and some are positive. The negative players I encounter are never the majority but represent a rather salient negative experience. After all, it takes just one bad player in nine to make an individual match feel unfun. However, I still enjoy playing and I enjoy a majority of the people here.

I believe Riot has done a lot to try not just deal with toxicity but also foster a community. I also believe Riot is continually trying to improve the player experience when it comes to toxicity. It's a never ending process.

People tilt out so hard so fast and refuse to take responsibility for their own actions or understand that raging only makes things worse.

so yeah I agree with you

As far as norms go, I do not see a lot of toxicity. Ranked, however, is full of flamers. I do not understand why this behavior is not addressed, being that the only reason this game keeps breathing is because of the community. Eventually, all of the toxic players are going to kill this game. At the end of the day, it's a game. You shouldn't have to worry about being reported for having a bad game. League is probably my favorite game and I have a lot of time put into it but I'm not going to be talked to like trash when there is a supposed 'report system' in place. I think it comes down to whether or not Riot will step up and actually do something about it. Maybe the only reason this happens so much is because nothing is being done about it. My 2 cents.
