Why is it that I only get Trolls in my Promos?

So, I'm trying to get out of bronze and I have been in promos 3 times already. All the games that I play that are NOT in the promos are really easy and fun with NO trolls. The second I queue into a game in promos there is always someone who trolls. I have had a full-crit fizz top, a Karthus top, a Master Yi support who fed a ton, and the list goes on. I have never experienced such a density of trolls in my promos ever before. I know the system sets people in their promos with people who have lost a ton to prove that they can carry but how can you carry something that poisons your chance to win? I just feel that in low tier promos, players WILL be matched with trolls 100% and now with flex pick and solo/duo split, there is no way for me to have a 3 man or 4 man team.

I have this theory.

Since there are tons of players now, and riot actually made an announcement about lower placements once your 10 are done (remember getting into gold? probably not happening anymore).

They want you to crash and burn in promos. They want you in bronze. If you can climb up, i guess that means you deserve it. I wish there were smaller pools of ranked in your regions -- like california, or just the bay area.

I didnt know that promos "sets people up with people that lost a ton just to prove that they can carry" that makes little to no sense.

Like the others, I wasn't aware of anything in the system that set players up with others who had lost a ton to make them prove they could carry. I'm not sure that's the case, but perhaps it may seem that way since you are focusing on winning those games much more than other ranked games. Try not to get too discouraged. If you keep at it, you will climb. =)

I have the same problem, and then i get suspended for toxicity. I BARELY won bronze to silver promos with 3 wins 2 losses. The game has major problems with game trolls, NOT toxic players. I don't know why riot cannot stop this, toxicity isn't the problem here. It is things like this.

Damn... consider yourself lucky. I get trolls in promos AND just normal ranked games. I don't know what that is, but if you aren't just remembering wrong, that's some weird luck. Sounds conspiratorial.

I go on nice win-streaks, have good teams where everyone is on the same page and then I get into my promos:

Game 1: My team - Jhin top who was Plat III last season and insists he will carry (no doubt in my mind he was Elo boosted by the way), full AP Cho'Gath jungle and a first time adc bot lane with 2 ranked games played this season, enemy team of course choses Riven top and Lee jungle.. loss.

Game 2: My team - First time Camile jungle (checked their match history and zero Camile games played) starts the game 0/5 by 10 minutes, Viktor mid that gave up first blood before minions spawned and proceeded to go 3/13 for the game. If you EVER die 13 times in a game (especially less than 30 minutes) you shouldn't even be allowed to play ranked.

So I fail my promos and then it's back to good teams again, but the next time I get back to a series.... well... you know how it goes.

I don't know, it always happens to me as well. I think it may be psychological that we notice these things more during promos and tend to ignore them a bit when we're not in promos (and hence don't care as much). If you're playing solo/duo queue, it's often about luck. Sure, it's possible to climb, but if you're unlucky, it will take you much longer than probably originally intended.

Have had the same experience went up to B4 5 times only to go back down over and over because of trolls / idiots, I don't call people names in game, but that is what they are people who lock stupid crap and then all I hear is "First Blood" "An Ally Has Been Slain" Over and over again...

Get to group fights and no one can do anything because no one took a proper comp and its lost its pretty pathetic when the enemy team has one player carrying 4 other people because (No one) on your team took any type of CC at all to counter one person who got hard countered... Aka usually Jungle & Support roles responsibility to take these types of champions with hard CC, especially with an all in Comp being played, and by CC I don't mean Alistar

Firstly riot should stop publishing that your in promo even if it's a game behind. Secondly I agree it's a problem I feel it too and you just know when your troll(s) make a comment about how they will carry or they are a smurf it's going bad at match start when they face check a bush full of the other team.

I have noticed that I really have to put on my motivational speaker pants for my promos. Where we are usually somehow very behind come midgame. The team is demotivated and making bad map rotations due to it.

Just keep directing them, saying what works and what doesn't. Make sure to be on the ball with letting everyone know what objective is coming and where everyone should be and what they should do. That is what wins promo games. Because you won't carry 3 losing lanes.

Riot doesn't place you with trolls/feeders in your promos to "prove" you can carry, the only difference in promos is that you are usually placed against tougher teams. Also I checked your mmr on op.gg and even after your recent win to get you to silver 5, you have a bronze 1 mmr which would partically explain the trolls. The lower mmr you have at the lower levels the more likely you will be paired with trolls.
