How can I help with my reports?

So, I regularly report toxic behavior in my games. I know that each report individually compiles to a case against the player, and as such I shouldn't assume that my report results in a ban, but...

Is there a way I can make my reports better? I pretty much just click the button and move on. Is it better if I copy/paste chat logs? Screenshots? How can I improve my reporting ELO?

If it is chat related then there isn't really any reason to go past just checking the box. If anything seems more complicated, such as trolling, you put write as detailed of a description as you can. There is no reason to screenshot text as it is logged already. I don't know how much you can really capture with a screenshot, but if you think you can catch something in it then by all means do it.

I usually review which option(s) fit what they were doing, and try to summarize specific toxic moments that they did.

You can leave a short explanation in the notes. Riot sees all the chat logs, including pre and postgame, but an explanation of why you felt the report was warranted can be helpful.

Screen shots are extremely helpful and effective. =^)

I've been reporting people for a long time at every chance if they are toxic indiscriminately and I've come to the conclusion. The report button is a placebo. It doesn't do anything, just makes you feel better and nothing happens. Maybe just me, but there hasn't ever been the message that said a report has successfully banned a player.

The post-game screen is the best place to report; you can write little notes if you want to highlight something in particular. These work very well and do the job.

If something extremely severe happens (death threats etc), then you can try submitting SCs via Player Support. 99.9% of the time, post-game reporting is the go-to option and works wonders.
