Chat Restriction??? Just look

I got chat restricted for not doing well in a ranked game. I tried the entire time, said LITERALLY NOTHING NEGATIVE, and at the end everyone reported me and I got chat restricted. throughout the entirety of the game, my team was flaming me nonstop. I still did not say anything negative, nor did I flame them. I only muted 1 of them who was flaming the most of all of them. The Ahri kept saying that I was a troll account. If you're wondering what I played, I got autofilled bot so I played yasuo adc (which works). In champ select the enemy realized that and picked ashe and karma to counter it which is why I didn't do so well.

Can someone tell me what I did to deserve a chat restriction?? Here is my chat log from it:

fyi, I already sent a ticket to riot but it has been 24+ hours and no reply so I'm taking it to the boards

EDIT: I got my ticket back and it says:

"This chat restriction was correctly placed on your account for negative chat behavior. I get that other players were giving you a hard time, but we have to hold each player accountable for their own behavior.

It's important to remember that there's a difference between arguing with your teammates, and disagreeing with them. We don't expect you to agree with other players all the time. That would be unrealistic. However, the difference between the two is that arguing does not provide anything constructive to the game. When players start arguing , tensions start running higher, and things are more likely to escalate. Arguing serves as the foundation of more continued negative behavior, which is why we don't want to see it in games. I know that this behavior may be seen as being minor, but it's still behavior that we administer penalties for.

I'm sorry to have to be so final, but we won't be appending this chat restriction, for any reason.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and honest opinions (and some for your sympathy). I'm gonna follow the advice that was given to me so as for this to not happen again. I did not expect this to get popular at all but I'm glad it did because I got some real advice.

I do not think it was justified however it would be wise to avoid telling your team mates to "stfu". I'm very sorry this happened to you.

Had a bad game yesterday got called every name in the book. No notification of penalty for them. Pretty sad.

I recently was given a 25 game chat restriction for saying "you're 4-5 and cant land a w"

So I get it man.

Yet another instance of an overzealous chat punishment system. The fact they let something like this turn into banning you permanently from all your purchases is criminal. Riot fix your system.

Well, you haven't really used punishable words excepf for "stfu", but you were passive aggresive, especially towards that brand. Flame in other games might have contributed towards your punishment too.

Look, i know it's hard to play with someone that hates your guts, but just mute them, and don't touch the chat. Riot's system does not allow any sort of toxicity, even towards those that have wronged you. It's sometimes really stupid, but most of the time it works as intended.

Looking at the game you spend pretty much the whole time arguing with others. According to you you apparently did mute the problem player but then unmuted them once they started spam pinging you. If that's the case then why didn't you just mute their pings as well rather than unmute and argue with them? I get that you were having a bad game and were most likely feeling frustrated, and in those instances I get that it's tempting to argue back, but there was ultimately no benefit I can see from doing what you did there.

Next time if someone refuses to stop acting up in chat then mute them and don't unmute them later, even if they start spam pinging you, cause at that point they're just doing it to get on your nerves and nothing more. It's better to just focus on the game itself rather than on who can argue the best in chat.

In terms of punishment while I don't think this merits one on its own if it's a pattern of yours across multiple games then I could see how a chat restriction could be warranted. You may be able to get it overturned with the Support Ticket you filed (just be patient on that front), but in case you don't just remember: less arguing in chat and more playing the game.

U typed entirely too much into chat. Rito's IFS pretty much auto-punishes any player who gets reported after typing a lot in chat. If you kept it to 10-15 lines or less, u probably wouldn't have been punished. The system pretty much considers any player who is reported after typing paragraphs worth of chat into a match toxic and punishable.

I gotta say, you handle toxicity well. You didnt take it too personal, you could understand their frustration, I like it. Unfortunately, you just dont seem to have an understanding of the rules of chat. Riot doesn't want people holding debates and arguements in the middle of game. All they want is for players to focus on the game instead of distracting themselves and other players with arguements in chat. Had you just muted them, you would be fine. But you spent a lot of time typing about why youre losing, how youre not trolling and how youre gonna mute and telling people whats happening.

Sorry you werent aware of that being a rule, it sucks and I know the game must have been frustrating and even moreso getting a punishment for it. Just move forward knowing now how the rules work. Its not about profanity or hate speech. Its about keeping the focus on the game and not distracting everyone with needless chatter. Good luck!

Based on the chat log alone, it's a really weak punishment. I don't think it merited a restriction.

As a general statement of advice, however, I strongly encouraging committing to the mute. Just do it, and don't backtrack.

Let's be honest here. Brand probably said nothing useful all game. Unmuting, or otherwise continuing to engage with that player is just setting yourself up for failure. If we go even further back:

Just mute them. Again, it's clear they have nothing useful to say. They're just harassing you. You're just getting frustrated. You're ultimately getting a chat restriction. When you mute them, you never have to see them. You never have to look at their shit.

Honestly, no, this didn't deserve a chat restriction, BUT I will not lie, I can tell how you got it.

Terms like "STFU" and Mute-threatening are marked as harassive behaviour by the system. Any form of threats verbally expressed rather than silently committed are flagged as harassment. So you threatening to mute him probably did it for you.

Next time, don't say you will mute them, just do it. Same with reports. You didn't do it here, if I haven't misread anything, but don't call for reports, don't say they will be reported, just silently do it post-game.

I know, it sucks, because it prevents you from educating your opposite about what they exactly violated, but the thing is, if they won't listen to reason wheres any chance they will listen to you?

I repeat: You didn't deserve the chat restrict, but I can see how you did get it.
