A Rant and Questions Relating the Toxicity System in League

Recently, I just got a 10 game chat restriction because I was talking shit to someone who was talking trash to our jungler.

I don't mind being chat restricted because I said shit I should have not said. The issue is, why am I being punished for talking trash when our top laner who was talking shit as well didn't get a single punishment?

I feel like some of the shit I said was definitely overboard, especially because I referenced brain cancer, but I'm of the opinion that other players should also be punished for being extremely negative towards our teammates. What especially got me angry was the fact that despite repeated attempts of telling this guy to listen to his own hypocrisy, he instead called me a '12 year old,' and refused to listen to the fact that you shouldn't be talking shit to people in the first place and not expect to get shit handed back to you.

I do not understand Riot's philosophy in how toxic players should be punished, and I really want a good explanation on how the system punishes toxic players, as well as how other players in the same game may have triggered an outburst that should have not been said are being dealt with.

In return, I will paste my chat logs here to try to give a good explanation to every single chat line, including the shit that I went overboard with.

Right here, I started to talk about why he would blame Rammus for a bad play that Nasus misplayed himself. I mentioned his KDA as well as how he is also not doing as well. What made me angry the most about this part was that he was complaining about a gank not happening on top lane for him, and when he finally got that gank, he started to shittalk this Rammus in our team and called him 'fucking bad.' I think that, alone, should be a chat restriction for at least 10 games, like in my situation.

First off, let me mention that every single Nasus player against an Ornn has won the lane extremely hard. I do not know how this matchup works, but from previous experience of other players playing the matchup, I have concluded that Nasus destroys Ornn in the laning phase. There may have been a ranked difference that I did not recognize at first, since this was a normal game, and I may have been completely wrong about the matchup in the first place. I just went off from previous experience and over exaggerated, but I'm positive that in this matchup, after level 6 with some MR, you should be able to win a 1v1 every time.

By the time he started calling Rammus as irrelevant as him, he was sitting in a 0/5/1 score while our Rammus had a 0/6/7 score. He helped us secure multiple kills, and has tanked a lot of damage for our carries. The only thing he has done in the game was somewhat pressure top lane turret, and even then, he did not hard push; rather, he last hitted every single minion in the wave with his Q, which made his push to the turret slower than it should've been.

This part makes sense on why I was chat restricted for 10 games. I should have not said that, and it makes sense for me to not have said that because those lines right there are very toxic. The only question I do have, is why Nasus was not chat restricted for calling Rammus 'fucking bad.'

I mentioned his OP.gg and told him that his rank, Silver II, should not warrant him talking shit to people about their gameplay when theirs are just as bad. Another thing to mention is that he says that he is using his smurf account to 'troll around,' but if that was the case, shouldn't he be banned for trolling around on that account and purposely losing games? I feel like more that he is lying about him being his smurf after looking around his OP.gg profile. However, if that is not the case, and he does purposely troll in games of League on this account, shouldn't he be banned for griefing other player's games?

I probably have explained this horribly in the in-game chat, so that may have warranted questions on his part, but he didn't ask any questions on what I was trying to say. On those lines, I tried to explain to him that he shouldn't really be talking shit to people in game when he doesn't care about the game he was playing. If you talk shit by calling them 'fucking bad' to someone in game, and then 10 minutes later, say that I didn't really care about the game to begin with, I don't see why that makes sense, especially after he was still talking trash to me this whole time.

Nasus started to talk shit about how I was ignoring the rest of his comments, and that made me talk even more shit to him then I should've. This was also bad on my part, and I should've ignored him the entire game after reading on his hypocrisy and failure to understand multiple times on what he tried to say.

Both of us were toxic in game. I was being a hypocrite and probably should've stopped responding. Nothing else to say here.

Same thing here, I shouldn't have kept responding to him. What he did was try to anger me even more by pulling out the '12 year old' card, despite me previously trying, albeit very aggressively, to tell him to realize his own hypocrisy.

Now after reading my explanation of my chat logs, I wanted to ask why I was punished, but this Nasus in my game that was calling people bad was not. Was it because I over-aggressively talked shit to him to the point where I was warranted a chat restriction? But if that's the case, how come he was not chat restricted, especially when he was also toxic to begin with? How come his account isn't banned if he really is trolling, and if he isn't trolling and that's his real account, how come he was in my normal draft pick game to begin with? He was Silver II, and I'm sitting at Platinum 4, I should not be matched up with him to begin with in the first place, unless the game also queues up with people who are Silver on your team as well, which in that case, I don't think the normal game queue system is balanced.

To repeat what I said in the beginning, I understand why I was chat restricted. I clearly was very toxic to him. What doesn't make sense to me is the fact that he is not punished as well for being toxic. I enjoy playing this game, and I do plan to keep playing this game, as well as not talking as much as I should have in this game anymore, but I would love a good explanation that explains how the toxicity system works and why he was not punished as well. It would be bonus points if a Rioter explained how the system works, since I feel like they should know how the toxicity system works best.

If some things aren't clear to what I explained, please reply because I just typed this in minutes after I got the restriction, so a lot of things are running in my head at once.
