I deserv the suspension, but why i cant see my friends on my other account?

You were punished for something and admit that you deserve it, yet you use another account to try to play during the time you are supposed to be prevented from playing the game?

Am I the only person who thinks there is a problem here?

It gives people the freedom to circumvent the punishment system. If somebody earns a 14-day ban by cussing somebody else out, calling them a <insert derogatory term here> and otherwise acting like a complete asshole, I certainly don't want it to be possible for me to get matched with them on their alternate account the next day when they should otherwise be on a 14-day ban.

"Report me, I don't care this is just my alt, I'm only playing it because my main is on a 14-day ban already." - said by like, half the toxic players in-game.

I would argue that in most cases where a player uses an alt account during a ban, they have not learned their lesson and have not reformed.

being the words of interest here. There's a reason why a 2 week ban exists just before a perma and just because the people you encounter learned nothing from the first punishment, it doesn't mean that all of them are like that.

Then there needs to be more steps in the punishment tiers inserted before 14 or perma bans. Maybe 24 hour or 48 hour bans would be appropriate.

This would be more fair to the people who learn their lesson while still properly punishing players who would otherwise just thumb their nose at their punishment.

besides. i think it's a safe bet that even if there were 10 punishment levels instead of 4, flamers would still complain that it isn't enough

How so? I am of the opinion that it would not be worth the effort of maintaining extra accounts (especially with the new BE and leveling rewards system).

That is a slippery slope. We should not dismiss a potentially useful idea on only the premise that people might complain anyways.

The purpose is not to reduce other people's complaints or satisfy them. The purpose is to make the system more effective at reforming the negative players or removing them from playing the game.

Precisely my point. It is enough to make it clear to the player that Riot can and will ban them if such behavior persists.

But it is also not enough that it would be worthwhile for the player to create a new account to play on during it. They are more likely to go find something else to do for 2 days, thus effectively keeping them out of other peoples' games.

Then 28-30 hours is enough to guarantee they won't be able to use the account the next time they usually play.

There aren't any actual rules against it, but it does go against the spirit of the rules.

If a player is given a 14-day ban then arguably, the spirit of the law is that that player should not be playing the game for 14 days. Just because it is not enforcable does not make it right or okay.

That is in my humble opinion anyway.

It's really not about that though. The punishment won't have any effect on the player's habits if it is not enforced.

It's like if a child gets grounded by one parent, but the other parent doesn't know yet and they go ask that other parent if the can do something that they were actually banned from doing when they were caught.

If everything were on the straight and narrow, the child would never have been rewarded with continued access to the thing they were grounded from. It defeats the purpose of grounding them and making them take a break.

it's not the same thing.

rather it's as if your car breaks down due to an accident because you weren't paying attention and you are forced to go on your errands by bike for a while. it's not as convenient, not as fast, you are missing things you are accustomed to having and you are faced with the realization that you should be more careful in the future

Behavior is not a machine that breaks down. People are accountable for their behavior.

As I suggested in our other discussion on this page. We need shorter bans inserted before 14-day bans. A slap on the wrist so to speak, to allow for the players who have received their warning to show whether they learned from it or are just avoiding taking responsibility for their actions.

I do think they are enough. I also think that if a player earns a 14-day ban then it should be enforced somehow. If it is not enforceable then there's not really any point in having it.

Maybe creating shorter ban periods will reduce the incentive for the person to go to the effort of acquiring / creating another account. It won't be worth the effort of creating / acquiring a new account just to be able to play for 1 or 2 days while waiting for a main account to be available again.

Smurfing is a problem. It allows toxic players to remain playing the game despite having been banned.

It interferes with the integrity of the punishment system, and renders it pointless in the cases where the offender is unapologetic and does not care that their behavior impacts others.

Cream Reaper and I have had a respectful disagreement. I bear no ill will for them, and I hope that they bear none for me as well.

well i have more than 1 account and i like having backups. i imagine im not the only one.

if your main gets for example hacked and riot bans it because "you and you alone are responsible for account security", at some point, i imagine you wouldn't mind a smurf that is at least mildly up to date either :P

Indeed you are probably not the only one. And I am sure that there are plenty of people who do not abuse the priviledge of owning multiple accounts. However there are also people who do.

Abuse of systems is precisely why we can't have nice things in this world. Trolls and abusers use loopholes to take advantage of the things, to the point that system owners have to impose additional rules on everyone else just to control and stop the abusers.

Your suspension on this account shouldn't affect your other account, chances our it's an issue with the recent update try restarting the client or giving it a while since riot are still having issues with the update.
