What is toxicity?

I have played league for awhile now, and I would love to get some feedback from the community. What exactly is toxicity? Is it different from trolling? Also, what triggers players into being toxic? Is it something about League as a whole that just really tilts people? Or is it the players themselves? I am used to trash talking in gaming, but the league community takes it to another level. Finally, how do you deal with toxic people in game? How do you get them to chill out and help the team? [sg-shisa]

I personally consider toxicity to be every action a player takes with the specific intent or purpose to annoy/hurt/piss off teammates or the actions that are taken to make the game unfair for you or your opponent. Below is(in my opinion) the full list of actions are toxic in league ranked from least bad to worst.

Specifically trash talking a teammate(not criticising )
Resorting to extreme toxicity to get your way.
keeping champ select hostage
Intentionally feeding
Trolling
Scripting

"stealing" is a loose term... i main support and if i dont click for a second and take 1 minion on accident i get ping spammed to hell for "stealing" same goes for "inting" alot of people say inting when someone dies 2-3 times in early game but thats not always the case some people just get unluck...i wouldnt be said the same if you got 2-3 kills early on due to unfortunate happenings for the enemys.

so to answer your question obvious feeding is toxic and so is people being rude/flaming with no evident reasioning.

anyone calls anything in this game "toxic" if:

they don't like it
possibly because they don't understand it
and therefore, they can't tolerate it as a result

its like the term "semantics" when debating: it apparently refers to "any point that disagrees with my own"

It's the nature of the MOBA genre. If you're familiar with the "Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory", it goes something like this:

Normal Person + Audience + Anonymity = Asshole

That's the case on any internet medium. In a MOBA, it's worse. You live or die by your team, your team can put you into a bad situation through no fault of your own, you can't escape the situation entirely without negative effects to yourself, and the one weapon you have to fight it (post-game reports) is unsatisfying and often appears ineffective.

its more or less an excuse to blame others. dont get used to this term. if anyone abuses you unjustifiably then mute / report

Everyone knows what it means to be toxic, but for some reason people seem to believe that their toxic behavior should be either excused or justified regardless.
