New system? Instant 14-day ban. Never had any punishment before. Only 1 game on reform card.

Never had a single warning before and been playing since beta. Got upset when our jg afk'ed at level 5, and said "please report f*t jg udyr." Definitely poor choice of words, but then I was also a little surprised to get an immediate 14-day ban following, with of course the usual restrictions of free stuff.

Honestly, I get that what I did was wrong, but the punishment seems... steep? Idk, I'm pretty disappointed to not get this season's victorious skin honestly more than about anything else. I'm putting my chat log from the game below. The jg afk'ed at the point where I said "shit jg". It sounds like this is maybe a new policy implemented recently and I got caught in it? I submitted a ticket, but I'm googling around and it seems I'm not the only person.

As someone whose never been chat restricted I definitely feel like a 10-game chat restriction would have been pretty effective... I have a personal friend who has had two accounts permabanned over the years and I remember what he had to do to get to a 14-day ban. It was... significant.

I guess I'm looking for leniency, but also maybe just confirmation this is what was intended. Super disappointed. Thanks for your time.

Are they trying to move from chat bans? I hadn't seen that. I know that the words the OP used is one of a small list of auto 14 day bans. That word has been an auto punish since the days of tribunal.

Any racial slurs/ homophobic slurs/ and encouraging self harm bump you straight up to a 14 day regardless of prior bans or strikes. Calling the jg a %%%got twice got you this ban.

Normally I'd come here to tell you how toxic the messages really are, but I appreciate that you understand the mistake. I believe that, like me, if you'd had a chat ban it would have been a good wake-up call to be really careful about what you say in the future, and I do think in this situation they should have done that first. But because they are trying to move away from chat bans I can see why it was done. It's a bummer, that's all really. I feel bad for you and hopefully you are super careful in the future.

Riot isn't trying to move away from chat bans. However, with the current system, it is possible to be skip the chat ban punishments and jump straight to a 14 day or even a permanent ban if your behavior is severe enough. This is generally reserved for things like racial/homophobic slurs or death threats/encouraging self harm, and there are a few slurs in your chat logs which is very likely why you were escalated straight to a 14 day ban.

Hate speech or urging self harm skips punishment tiers. This is not new.

Also, 1 report does exactly the same thing as 9 reports, so asking for reports or saying what someone else is doing is completely unneeded, and considered negative by the IFS.

If he's AFK and you're going to report him for it, he's going to be reported for it. No need to ask for reports, no need to tell other people so that they can report.

I have never had any punishment before either after 3 solid years of playing and received a 14 day ban because I asked a troll to "stop being r*trded and go back bot" after he died 4 times and decided he was going mid instead so we lost two bot towers in the first 12 mins. Its a super harsh punishment and a chat ban would have been effective. The part that sucks for you is that you don't get end of season benefits because of being banned past mid august. Just remember that no matter what a player does, if you name call riot will drop the hammer on you... despite that people can mute you but you can't "mute" a troll or a rager or afk messing up your game.
