Hey Riot and all of the community just had a quick question. I recently got permabanned for malicious 3rd party software while using lolwiz and replay hud on overwolf. My question is since when did these become bannable 3rd party apps? Im literally watching c9 ray use both as I type this.. Please help me I just want to play some league! :/

Using third party moddifications of the game is outright stated to be a banworthy act.

Not sure what made you think it was alright...

i am pretty sure the replay hud doesnt modify the game in anyway. it just records it'

It's highly unlikely your account was flagged for those applications.

Have you ever let anyone else on your account?

Have you ever suspected someone else accessed your account, or accounts/emails that shared login information with it?

Do you ever play on a computer used by other people, such as an internet cafe, or does anyone else use your computer especially if they also play LoL?

Did you copy your League folder from someone else, such as for saving download time?

Did you use any other applications that interacted with the client or modified how you saw it, including custom resolution management tools?

No sir have never done any of those things. I have seen a lot of posts on here recently about people getting banned for the same things though. The only thing i have ever changed is i played windowed in a smaller resolution and put flash on d. Other than that the only thing i think it could be is curse or one of the overwolf programs. I just want to know what caused it so i can uninstall or whatever to take care of the problem when i make a new account.

I have curse as well, but so do my 20+ friends who have not been banned. I'm really not sure what it really is, but maybe only a handful of curse-users are getting tagged by this? I really don't know at this point, but until things clear up some I'm not going to bother putting more time and money into a new account account only to be banned for the same thing.

@BronzePrometheus did you get banned as well? Yeah thats what im thinking doesnt seem worth it untill we get to the bottom of why i got banned. :/

Yeah, got it yesterday. As it seems to me, Support won't bother discussing it at all to preserve investigation methods which is reasonable but also bothersome for those who actually want to fix it. I have also never used, or heard of Overwolf before, but I have OBS which could be a contender along with Curse.

@Dominick Destine I mean maybe i thought it was okay because a professional LoL Team not only uses it, but PROMOTES it... Go look at any of the C9 members and almost all of them use it on stream with thousands of people watching. Didn't think they would promote something that could get you banned.

Hey there!

Sophie from Overwolf here. Overwolf will NOT get you banned.

We are working closely with Riot Games to ensure that all the apps we publish are aligned with their Terms of Service and their 3rd party policies. Our apps do nothing more than a second monitor would do for you and do not interact with League of Legends.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to chime in, since someone asked about our thoughts on this. LoLWiz, in it's current incarnation, is no different from visiting OP.GG or LolNexus or any other similar site. The only real difference is that it is displayed via an Overwolf Plugin, rather than a web page. It's powered by the Riot API, and no questionable access the game client, so as of right now we have no issues with using this app and will not frown upon players who do so.

That being said, we reserve the right to change our stance on this, if in the future the LoLWiz app adopts any functionality we find to be harmful to player's experience or the game's ecosystem. (Though if that happened we would first attempt reach out to LoLWiz and try to course correct things there, instead of banning players.) Also, naturally, we can never officially condone or promote the use of any third party tool, as we can never guarantee your game stability or safety in doing so.

TL;DR - It's not directly affecting the client, as it is a component of Overwolf and not a game-mod, so you won't be banned.

Beat me to it. i was going to link to this same post. As outlined above, it's legit to use Overwolf.

Overwolf is trusted by pros like Cloud9, Team Liquid and Logitech Gaming.

Make sure at all time that you are using an Overwolf app by downloading it directly from our appstore available at http://store.overwolf.com/apps/
