See i've been playing this game for a very long time, and over the past 1 and a half years, something I started to notice was the community getting more and more toxic. I played a game with this person, and I didn't do too well. Instead of my team giving me constructive criticism on what I can do better, they thought it would be a better idea to consistently flame and tell me stuff like this. I ended up muting all of them in-game. After the game however, this person took it a step farther. He added me, and me being an optimist, thinks maybe he is apologizing. Boy was I wrong, the thing that gets me the most about this, I see this in about 5/10 games I play, there is always that 1 or 2 toxic people and in the odd case that 1 extremely toxic player like the one in the screen shot above.

Our community should be better than that. We are one of the largest E-Sport communities out there, and I don't understand the need to be toxic. When someone is having a bad game, you don't put them down, you give them advice to get better. What if you transferred this into real life? When you yourself did something wrong in school or at work, would you want your teacher/co-worker to tell you to "Hang yourself"?

Now I'm speaking directly to Riot Games, the Tribunal has been down for "Maintenance" for quite a while now, players who are exceedingly toxic are getting away with it. They are ruining the overall community experience for real players. You need to do something about this Riot. You need to take action. I don't feel comfortable playing a game where I get told to kill myself, especially with myself having a suicidal past. It hurts. It really does.

For now, I think I'm going to stop playing League of Legends, I can't deal with the toxicity anymore. And I'm sure plenty of you will say something like, "Just mute your team" or "This is why you should play with friends". And I've done both of these things, but still cannot get away from the toxicity.

People hide behind their keyboards and will continue to talk shit until their actions get repercussions. Which will be never. I hate these kinds of people because they completely forget they are talking to another human being when they get online. I stand with you on this one Riven only NA. This needs to stop

Toxicity is actually at an all time low, thanks to the automatic system banning people. If you can't deal with just muting people and not accepting friend requests from people that flame you, then you're definitely better off playing some PvE games.

I don't know how long you've been playing this game, or how often you play. But it is not at an "All Time Low". When I first started playing, there was barely any toxicity, given there was also barely a meta, but still. Toxicity is only getting worse. And with Riot not using the Tribunal anymore it's starting to get annoying and unbelievably uncontrolled.

I have not seen one time where the automatic system worked. Never once.

Welcome to the boards then! I would highly suggest taking a look through the older posts on this sub-board. You'll get to see all sorts of chat logs of awful people getting punished.

I just went through 4 pages. The most I saw was 6-7 people getting banned for obvious reasons. Thats 6 or 7 people in a multi-million player game. That isnt a good ratio.

Much better than the "never" you had 5 minutes ago, though. :P Riot says that the worst 5% are given chat restrictions and 0.2% (of the general playerbase) that fail to reform are banned. Most reform after their second chat restrict though.

"The worst" is an opinionated word. MY worst is a lot different than YOUR worst. I am going to guess that to a bot the worst is how many keywords they use.

I don't see a problem with the bot. Honestly, I've never seen a chat log on this board where I didn't say "Yup, that's reportable. You can't speak like that in game."

I've seen unbiased players disagree with me on a few chat logs, but overall I really think the bot is doing its job and not punishing players excessively.

The only problem with a bot system is when there is no human intervention within the system. There is a review process that they go through for that 0.2% of people that dispute one way or another. As long as there current policy of review is in place this should not happen as often.

Its more like more people, more kids that got banned from PS4 / Xbox live and come here.

If you look at the toxic person's account, you might notice that they are really fresh some of the time. This is probably because they might have had an account banned in the past.

Rather it is repeat offenders getting their account banned again, likely.

I think you are romanticizing the past though as far as the meta in s1 goes.

Ehhh... I hate playing 5v5s because of how ridiculously upset people get for a simple mistake, item choice, summoner spell choice, missed skill shot, failed gank, missed ping, rune choices, win/loss ratio, team composition, ward placement.... You name it, I've seen someone get enraged over it in game.

I've been a gamer my whole life. Played a ton of games. A stupid amount. And I've never been a part of a gaming community like this one. The atmosphere in most games is just brutally horrific. It's not an issue of PVE vs. PVP. I've played a lot of both and this game has, by far, the worst community I've experienced.

I try to not play normals / ranked unless I'm with my own friends. Otherwise, I /muteall most games and just communicate via ping. Not everyone is a pro (it's gotta be an extremely small percentage of players) and in normal blind/draft, no one wants you to be in need of any sort of game knowledge. It's just... silly.

Maybe it is a "losing battle," I don't know. In my opinion, it's worth bringing up. I haven't even played a lot of normals, however, the few I have played have almost exclusively had at least one toxic player. Who either is talking shit or declaring this game a loss at the first death. It's ... incredibly annoying.

Of course, that's my opinion.

I don't believe this either. Every other game I end up reporting/muting someone. Before you try telling me I'm reporting too much and my reports mean nothing, just know that I actually receive the notification about someone I reported getting banned fairly darn often. Calling each other "f**gots" and telling each other to kill themselves and video tape it are not okay.

A lot of the people in this community are deeply disturbed and need help. They won't receive it. They think nothing is wrong. They'll just keep buying new keyboards and mice after smashing them, or headphones after throwing them against the wall.

Really. Then I'm just in the most toxic part of League. Where players ban another player's champion based on the last previous games they played. Where people are judged to be "stupid feeders" before they even have a chance to prove themselves. Toxicity is increasing if anything. I hate to think our community is this way, but let's face it.

It is undeniable that people feel they won't be punished for rasping other players without reason, or a reason they feel validates their right to harass other players and talk trash to them with the sole intent on getting players to mute them so they can just give up and talk for the rest of the game. It's almost as if this isn't considered toxic anymore.

That is, if it is at an all time low.

Just mute, report and move on. Don't argue with him and then add him after game to argue more, then cry that he was being mean to you. You clearly exposed yourself to it. Should this guy be gunned down and deported? Yes, but you won't get sympathy from me for adding him after game and provoking him even more.

Ehh... I've had several people add me post-game and accepted their request. I have my user name on a couple of websites I frequent, so how am I to know who they are?

Yes, I do put them on ignore and continue on with my life. However, it's pretty damn annoying / toxic.

you can report these people out of game and get them permabanned i would screenshot everything or log it somehow and attach it to the email. I had a similar situation and they advised me to report it to the police if i feel my life was in danger. no im just tired of this bull hockey death threats and "go kill yourself" negative remarks.

If the Tribunal system works then it isn't working well enough. The toxic trash is still there and if the Tribunal worked as well as it's said to work then the toxic people would be gone in a few months not years and persist.

Can't say I've been told something like that yet, but I've also noticed how toxic the league community has been. I just started playing recently, and find that having nice team members is something pretty rare now, even sometimes in bot matches. I've reported some many people for being way too noxious (haha, get it?), but I'm not sure if they'll ever stop. It's such a shame league is being ruined by people like them.

me calling someone else stupid is an opinion as well. If you cant realize why they dont receive punishment on your own, then there is nothing i can tell you. When someone calls you an idiot in chat it means they have labeled you. labeling is a sense of maturity. Shit like equality and everyone being friends is not real and a sense of immaturity. I cant explain it any other way. Thats why i said just mute them and move on if you dont want to listen to what they have to say.

Im not expecting you to understand my reasoning because you side with emotion.

The introduction of the hextech crafting system has only INCREASED the toxicity. Hell, Dynamic queue started an increase in the toxicity but the hextech crafting system pushed it over the line with the way people like RiotSocrates has handled the community.. I mean hell, he was VERY toxic on twitter the day the hextech crafting came out.

What's worse is riot has introduced a system that is unfinished, has no real transparency when it comes to what's considered "reformed" and will spam toxic players with a constant reminder that they are toxic, leading to MORE toxicity.

Their player behavior system needs work.. Rito has shown that they DO NOT want it to work, hiding behind made up statistics saying "oh it's working" yet, people are constantly posting about their toxicity encounters... and has riot even responded to even one of them in a positive manner that is deemed in their eyes as a non toxic response? Nope.

I wouldn't hold my breath tho for riot to even deal with those types of people in a way that will punish those that are really toxic all the time, and those that have a bad day.

I've had this happen to me, but instead of someone flaming me they went on about how if I play 6 games totally on average a day and have been playing for a year and a half why am I not better at them, they were Plat and I was silver. Then they proceeded to look at my ranked match history and said "the reason you are not in bronze is because people don't know how to deal with stealth". I main Shaco jungle, sorta lol. Then when I as asking them why they were asking this, why they were so mad, they said they just found it intriguing and unfriended me. Owo;;
