Why the stupid popular hate towards teemo?

Exely·8/5/2017, 2:47:35 PM·3 votes·3,479 views

well, yesterday as I went online after work to play a match I had a great time on my lane playing as teemo, cause someone finally did not ban teemo after seeing that I was going to pick him which tends to happen a lot. tho, I had a good time vs a good player playing darius who had an advantage of a free kill my jungler gave him and red buffs yet I managed to stay on the top of the game even tho I got ganked and my jungler not once ganked me because I was playing teemo. moral of the story, I was the only one getting fed in my team since teemo holds a little bit of an advantage against darius early and mid game, while my entire team was being suppressed on 4v4s since bot and mid lost their turrets at a little less than 18 mins into the game. The funny thing is my team blamed me when they lost bot turret, mid turret and all the 4v4s when darius was in my lane still and both our turrets were still standing they made sure to hate on me the entire game for the simple reason of picking teemo. that brought me into flames which took ages to happen since the last time, however, this time I got suspended for it which I do understand. what really ticks me off is the fact that players hated on another player just because they picked a champion who is popular to hate. it is literally popular to hate teemo and irrational it's just ridiculous to this point. first everyone hates teemo because teemo is an "easy" champion to play.(then why are there so many "good players" playing teemo "well"? if he is easy then there should be a ton of people good with the little guy).... do you know who always regardless of the adc being fed will get focused? because it is just simply too easy to kill? or simply hated by everyone? dude I hate teams being aced just for a chance to land the last blow on teemo and their comments "worth it". I also got those saying "every teemo player sucks" lol play under the presure being the most ganked lane in the game a getting double kills and coming out with plays to counter that then we can talk... and now I had my entire team reporting me not for my behavior since theirs was the cause of mine but simply because I played teemo and they were able to get me to flame to be able to report me. it was foolish of me as a teemo player for falling for such an old trick but I got fed up by the amount of times of being hated by players simply because I main teemo this year. so my question is why hate teemo so much? do you guys have a mental issue that hating teemo simply for being popular to hate him is a good enough reason to do so?

Teemo is a champion that contributes VERY little to a team comp.

  • He has no hard CC;
  • He is inherently squishy with no reason to build tank items;
  • He is a generally poor teamfighter;
  • He works best as a split pusher;
  • He just looks too fucking smug;
  • His Shrooms are really fucking annoying to the enemy team, but not that helpful to his allies;
  • He is usually a Top Laner.

Teemo is a selfish champion when you look at his kit. He has barely enough tools to save his own ass, let alone help his team. When he takes the space meant for a front liner with lots of AoE, Tankyness, and/or CC, people tend to get unhappy.

A Teemo that's ahead is useful, but one who's fallen behind is useless. Many other top laners either have the tools to be useful when behind (Maokai, Malphite, Galio, Gnar) or have an much easier time getting ahead (Darius, Pantheon, Riven), some of them are even granted a free powerful late game, no matter how their early goes (Gangplank, Tryndamere, Yasuo). Teemo gets nothing of that.

Currently, playing Teemo is like playing Azir. You better be a goddamn god, otherwise you should have probably picked another champion.

Also, hatting Teemo is the most ancient meme in League.

Constant blinds and poisons, what's not to hate?

The hate on Teemo is interesting to break apart because there are many instances to it.

  • The meme came out originally because back then, before all the broken Champs fiesta that we have now, stepping on a Teemo shroom was the most infuriating thing ever, add that to his fluffy looks and cheeky demeanor, it was basically begging to become a meme. A trend that lives nowadays, it's fun to hate on the furry little fella.

  • Nobody is ever happy to lane vs a Teemo because it basically means you have no right of laning unless you pick something that outright kills him and invalidates him (like Pantheon), also, again, stepping on a shroom is just infuriating.

  • Nobody is ever happy to have a Teemo on their team because he's an extremely odd pick. He's no tank nor assassin nor bruiser, he's some oddball sustained DPS character who has an indirect way of dealing damage, which in turn means he has no hard CC, something that lots of Top laners thrive on unless they can outright burst the enemy or bring other utilities. So Teemo kinda forces the allied team to play around him.

  • Teemo is kinda a troll pick. Nobody is really sure what the hell that particular Teemo is going to build, some claim AP is the way to go, others say that bruiser, others say On-hit. In addition to that, Teemo is kind of feast or famine, should he punish the enemy laner, he's going to be a nightmare, but if he falls behind, he might as well just go invisible and be a ward, due to the lack of CC of tanking capabilities.

So yeah...It's complicated.

Feeling the same to be honest. When people see me a mastery 7 teemo with omega squad teemo skin they blame me if I get killed at least once.. And of course enemy jungle won't leave me alone.

lolipopevelynn8/5/2017, 4:36:50 PM1 votes

The hate comes from the days when teemos shrooms did 2x the dmg and lasted 2x longer.

thats about it. people never got over that i guess. in all honesty he still needs buffs. shrooms are too easy to counter with red trinkets or red wards. not to mention item 3147 passive is another red trinket...

dude there is a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee difference between a good and a bad teemo but the champion is aids to play against and hes anti-fun to the people on the other side.

free kill my jungler gave him ....my jungler not once ganked

It's hard for a jg to donate a kill if he hasn't ganked.

now I had my entire team reporting me not for my behavior since theirs was the cause of mine

They reported you for your behavior. Since you're the only one at your keyboard able to hit enter and type what you typed. If their behavior was inappropriate, then you should report them.

Just be glad that everyone isn't like me and don't do:

  1. Buy teemo;
  2. Buy Cottontail teemo skin;
  3. Buy Pink chroma for said skin.
  4. Get into the game, walk to lane, use your passive in a spot where you can hit enemy the moment you get out of it;
  5. /all http://pm1.narvii.com/5974/d6102cdcb0aa86b7d22b5fa9c136505228f111e6_hq.jpg?noredirect

people hate teemo because it's a trend. no other reason. trends make people feel like they're normal or relatable. social anxiety is a major affliction. especially in online communities.

anyone who comes up with a reason for hating teemo is just telling you why they think they should hate teemo because in reality there arent that many reasons to hate teemo other than to fit in.

350k points Teeamo main here.I agree so much with you, sometimes the hate on just champion himself goes out of control...not one time my junglier literally danced in front of me when i got 1v2'ed and when i gently asked him why he didn't help he just said that he won't help teem. Now most of the time i using Ipav's smitetankmo build, so it means i going top lane with smite and flash,which is doubles the hate of your teammates.In my opinion(not only mine tho, Ipav who is master\challenger teemo one trick not using tp either)tp is just not worth on teemo, he's not the best playmaker and if enemy toplaner tp bot, you can just take free herald and tower which is definitely not selfish or egoistic(don't forget that game about objectives after all).And when people calls someone like shaco\teemo easy, they can't understand one simple thing - there is 2 types of difficulties in the game:macro and micro difficulty.Macro difficulty means to make your champ do impact you have to use your brain and build some tactic,do some mind games with opponent and always plan your moves and predict your enemy moves to lie a trap before they make it,shaco and teemo good example for it(check pink ward videos if you do want to see godlike macro outplays).Micro difficulty is on other side - mechanics think everyone knows what is it exactly so no need to explain what it is actually.So for example Teemo is simple in MICRO aspect(no skill shots with exemption of shrooms,only need to know how to kite),but has huge window for macro outplay with his passive and shrooms, and that's why you won't see all teemos doing big impact to the game because they aren't using it potential,and that's why he is not easy in this aspect.It's like compare newbie riven to someone who has 500k points on her and knows any animation cancel, theoretically newbie still can do impact, and do damage and even carry the game if he catch his snowball, but 500k riven simply would obliterate everyone with same amount of snowball and will be able to do much bigger impact without having one,just because she will do more damage for the same amount of time than newbie - that's micro play potential.Same goes for teemo, you can just spam your shrooms and oneshot adcs(if ap),or run enemies down(if bruiser).But let's check his kit, can he only do that?You can simply stay a little bit far from minion wave in stealth placing shroom (without being spotted) and enemy will decide to go for tower\farm a little bit more, he will get step on the shroom, get slow,stay close to you and mostly won't be able to escape and get caught completely off guard and will die mostly even with panic flash(which ambushed victims using often).Or if enemy has sun fire or other ale and thought you were leaving the lane for back or other reason, you can just stay stealthed in front of your tower and wait when aoe ticks on you - they will take tower agro and won't go away because you will put shroom in minions so he will get caught by it most of the time and will simply die to tower and your damage.Or you can stay stealthed in enemy buff in 40 secs before he spawns (or 30, even 20 if enemy junglier not wards it at all), check it for vision and wait when he will do it, if jungler not stupid he will put ward when he gets it, but you will be in stealth already so it won't help.then you wait when it low enough and just smite it, and then you either take junglier too or just run away before jungled realized what just happened.that's all examples of macro outplay you can still not doing that but all these tactical tricks will help you win the game for sure.now lets think what from this yasuo or riven can do? that's the simple macro play but hard micro play, which is opposite to teemo.

Now to main discussion, most of the times i got trolled by 4 premeds when i am solo(they love to ban teemo).And fun fact, all enemies will hard focus you even when you have 180 armor 120 mresist and 3,4k hp i usually call this"hidden passive:global taunt". and i simply used to play duo top (with enemy junglier) so he will never surpise me.

You are not alone, OP. but don't be sad. if someone trying to bully you for this stupid reason just mute him and play your own game, be cool, carry this "not toxic champ players" and then put those"useless teemo" words in their throats no one will ban you for that :)

Funkin Dunkin8/6/2017, 3:57:27 PM1 votes

I like playing Assassin Teemo if the enemy team is soft with no tanks. There's nothing quite like item 3146 item 3100 and deleting your enemy in 3 hits.

Telephone Booth8/6/2017, 4:33:47 PM1 votes

Lol yeah I wondered that and just chalked it up to a trendy thing to do (it's cool to hate)... until after a couple years of playing. Teemo is just a son of a bitch. The mushrooms... the teemos who always seem to just barely get away because of the speed boost... the blind.. the invis... then there's the teemos who just suck and feed constantly.. he's just a damned if you do, damned if you don't champ. Always sucks when he's on my team, but kicks ass on the other team (yeah, I know, completely irrational). Sometimes you just can't help but hate the little fucker. I do enjoy playing him though. He's fun. And I don't truly hate him to be honest. I'm not one of those people who take it obsessively far. I don't treat a teemo any different than any other champ.

Btw, just wanted to comment on one very bothersome and borderline sociopathic statement you made; "and now I have my whole team reporting me not for my behavior, since their's is the cause of mine...". Nobody causes your behavior. You are a human being. You have complete control over your own damn behavior. Never use that excuse. It's despicable. You're better than that.

He needs an eventual rework. Kit is outdated.

I Love Thresh8/5/2017, 2:50:45 PM1 votes

He used to have (one of) the most annoying kit to play against, so it was general consensus to hate him. Now he isn't even that much "no fun allowed" compared to other champions, but his reputation kinda stuck to him.

Sujiren8/5/2017, 2:54:52 PM1 votes

Most people hate teemo for these reasons. Your playing a squishy no cc champion in the top lane, which is where you usually want to have a tank or bruiser preferably with hard cc. That usually means that your teamfighting is gonna suffer a lot because teemo does not contribute much outside his shrooms. Those are the reasons I hate Teemos on my team.
