Stolen vs legit account

Riot games.... they provided me and my friends over in Europe as a means and excuse to chat on the daily, play our game, have fun when we messed up. It was always great, no problems. Until I decided to transfer my account to NA (for a better ping experience since I study here) while my main ranked buddy couldn't play for two months. I transferred my account but didn't play much, it's boring when alone. I did spend around 40$ in RP since the lunar revel stuff looked awesome to be honest. Love the super saiyan Warwick and my golden Warring Kingdom Garen chroma! But as it is with RIOT joy never lasts long, and suddenly I received two consecutive emails stating that I had requested a password change... I was at an aquarium, I couldn't possibly have done so. But I disregarded it, my username gamrptr can be easily misspelled. When I came home I tried to log into my account just for safety reasons. I couldn't... I requested a reset email (it should have come to my address just like the previous one, right?) It didn't come. I asked my friend to check if my account was still there, and he only found a random name he had never seen before. Same level, same in game golden Garen icon, and the same game history as I had. He asked me if I had changed my name, which I obviously had not, Doctorging3r is my go to in any game I play. I contacted RIOT, who was obviously as helpful as usual (hear my sarcasm?). This account was made as a GAME account not some sort of lifestyle years ago, the original email I used was a Hotmail address that is LONG gone, I used some generic fake birth date, my first five champs? Heck If I know, my first RP purchase? lost with that said email, it was old and full of spam who needs that; even the credit card used is cut up and in some trash around the world, even the location I created it in is vague, I travel between 5 places in the world every year just to visit family, plus family trips to cool new places; yeah not happening. I never thought anyone would steal an account from such a large company. But they sure did, and I can assure anyone here that they did not use my google mail to change the password and mail within the account. We are talking about an account with my paypal and credit card info on it. With over 400$ spend on this thing. Probably much more over the year, didn't and truthfully don't want to know the exact amount. I have receipts of the last 200'ish dollars spend within the past year, where I started playing again since my buddy was at it too.

So yeah now I sit here, watching the guy who took my game from me like a little child who's console gets taken by the school bully, unable to do anything because I can't remember irrelevant stuff that I do not want to have to memorize for anything that is fun related. I understand some of you out there take this thing as a lifestyle, please do promote it, enjoy what you love. For me it was a way to have fun with my friends, for which I gladly spend money. But now achievements, money and all that stuff has been lost to some kid who outsmarts a million company. And here I sit, watching my friends play the game, while I refuse to keep promoting something that has so little consideration for customer service. I mean even in "live chat" all I get are robotic answers. A truly intelligent and well trained customer service rep would be familiar and close to the consumer and his problem, instead of copy pasting answers. But what is to be expected right? I have person to person interactions with reps from RIOT from a month ago when I transferred my account to NA, since the ques were so large they helped me do so. It was great, both reps I interacted with were helpful and awesome, one of them even added me in-game on my account in their region. I finally had regained hope in RIOT, just to see it stripped away moments later.

Who puts this much effort, money, friends and time into an account if it is not their own RIOT? Why would I do all this just to steal an account? It took the guy who actually apprehended it from me mere hours, so why would I bother to go through your slow process with ill intentions? It's time to move on onto a game and company that won't let me down, and that will consider facts over some automated response. Heck, even the people on PlayStation live chat support are friendly and are willing to consider all options and opinions. I provided you with years old receipts, match history, a custom written letter by people who have played with me, I still have all the passwords the account has ever used saved! But thanks to some kid with computer knowledge and your inability to consider other things but what you're programmed to I must decide whether I make a new account and start years of work from 0, putting more money in and promoting your flawed system; or me and my friends move onto a newer, safer and more interesting environment where we have to worry about syncing our times, and not that someone steals a game account.

You know my choice, and it sucks since you guys truly have a great game and manage it amazingly well, I simply wish you'd be as good with customer relations. Hopefully one day you'll achieve that.

I think it goes against forum post rules to put in images or mention player names, but I do wish to shame the person who has taken my fun away, you can block me or do whatever you want to the account, not like it'll matter after today. At least people will be warned about the person that steals accounts and maybe will get him banned by reporting him... It's a long-shot but apparently more plausible than you doing something against it. I need that account back in my hands or gone for good, it has stored card and pay-pal information, along with connections to a lot of my real life friends.

The thief is using the name of Haluc, as you can see on the images, the pictures contrasted show him and me, with the exact same match history on his account. I am sure RIOT could verify which name was used on the account first, but pleasing a customer for once seems like too much effort for a billion dollar company. **Doctorging3r **has been my username for several games.... Not anymore since this person now knows it thanks to RIOT, no taking anymore chances. Another game I won't mention by name, but you all ave heard of is booming and they got cross-platform play, their company also seems to have their stuff together in terms of customer support and friendliness. (I had my friend "hack" my account to make sure I am not supporting another flawed system, 13h and I had my account back with the same info RIOT sees as irrelevant. (card and paypal purchases, email addresses, friends and connections etc... The difference between a real person or a robotic message by untrained, unmotivated people is astounding.)

Update: My friends still see the other person playing.... with my money and time! Thanks RIOT! He has access to my real life, my accounts, cards and all my hard work to get all your champs. (Hacker spotted by theyellowcracker, he wanted to try league and was the reason I moved my acc from EUW to NA, we go to college together.....big mistake, now some creep has access to his and my gf's account names) RIOT won't even block the account or delete the inside info.

If all you're going to say is that I used the same password or that I should remember such stuff, you clearly are unable to understand a text. Spare me with your answers, I don't expect positivity, but your "detective" insight is really worth very little if all you are trying is to boost your own ego by showing how I am the bad guy while some hacker plays with my account and sees my gf's in-game name. And I am sorry if i believe RIOT servers to be less secure than Google's.

That's a loooooot of words to simply state "Hey, my account was hacked".

If you can't answer most of the recovery questions, I'm not sure what we're supposed to think here. You can be sarcastic and disparaging of Riot, but you haven't really given them any reason to believe that you're the original owner, so...

i hope this gets upvoted more, and your problem gets fixed

That's major, major bs.

You can't answer a single question about the account yet you expect us to believe it is yours.

Yeah I'm not buying it sorry.

When they try and change the email on an account it sends an email to the old one to confirm, so they hacked your email account too?

I really hope you are telling the truth because this just looks like a long post of lies for attention

I contacted RIOT, who was obviously as helpful as usual (hear my sarcasm?). This account was made as a GAME account not some sort of lifestyle years ago, the original email I used was a Hotmail address that is LONG gone,

You write stuff like this down. If you change emails you should keep the old one around, or alteast the address of it.

I used some generic fake birth date,

That's your own fault, not Riots.

my first five champs?

Just some of them. You MUST have some recollection of who the first champs you bough were. You don't have to be 100% exact.

Heck If I know, my first RP purchase?

Take a wild guess. You don't have to be exact. But most same people keep records of these things in some form.

even the location I created it in is vague, I travel between 5 places in the world every year just to visit family, plus family trips to cool new places; yeah not happening.

Then look back to when you started playing, approximate the time period, and look back in real life. There is no way you don't have anything to work with.

The test REALLY isn't hard if you're the actual owner. I recently went through it with my younger brother and he didn't know alot of the things. Even he was able to remember enough to get his account verified.

I never thought anyone would steal an account from such a large company. But they sure did, and I can assure anyone here that they did not use my google mail to change the password and mail within the account.

How can you assure of us that? That is the most likely case. You don't just hack a League account. If you had a secure password and didn't reuse it for other sites then there is no way they can get it, unless they have the email and access to it.

Ofcourse if you DIDN'T use a good password or you reused it on another site (which had poor security), then it's your own fault. No sympathy really.

Then block Riot from charging you money for the time being, at PayPal and at your credit card issuer. (If you haven't already done so).

So yeah now I sit here, watching the guy who took my game from me like a little child who's console gets taken by the school bully, unable to do anything because I can't remember irrelevant stuff that I do not want to have to memorize for anything that is fun related.

If you can't remember it how can Riot know it's you? Assuming the hacker had access to your Emails (which he most likely had) reciepts would be too easy to fake. Meanwhile you cannot fake alot of the things they ask you about.

It's not Riots fault you can't remember it. It's standard procedure for a company to do these things, when you have no other way of verifying yourself.

I understand some of you out there take this thing as a lifestyle, please do promote it, enjoy what you love. For me it was a way to have fun with my friends, for which I gladly spend money.

Irrelevant. Most people, lifestyle or not, have enough memory of these things to verify them as owners of the account.

But now achievements, money and all that stuff has been lost to some kid who outsmarts a million company.

A kid who outsmarts a million company you. It's EXTREMELY unlikely that he actually hacked into Riot. Not only that he would have to reverse the encryption on your password.

If there is anyone out there who can do that, they wouldn't be hacking League accounts. They would actually run the world in secret.

A truly intelligent and well trained customer service rep would be familiar and close to the consumer and his problem, instead of copy pasting answers.

You obviously have NO idea what account security means. A truly intelligent customer rep wont just give out an account to anyone who asks. That's basically what you're expecting. Look at it from Riots perspective. You're an outside who can't answer any basic question about an account, but still claims it's yours.

Who puts this much effort, money, friends and time into an account if it is not their own RIOT?

As Riot sees it: Right now you don't have any proof you spent anything. You're just a random dude coming along trying to claim ownership of an account you can't answer basic questions about.

Why would I do all this just to steal an account?

Idk, but that's not an argument.

It took the guy who actually apprehended it from me mere hours,

Because Riot had reason to trust him. They thought he was you because somewhere along the line you let him impersonate you.

I provided you with years old receipts, match history, a custom written letter by people who have played with me, I still have all the passwords the account has ever used saved!

And yet you cannot answer the only questions that can verify you.

It says alot that you have your passwords saved. You're supposed to create long easy to remember passwords (about 4 medium sized words put together). The fact that you have them saved just means that you opened yourself up to someone stealing them.

The more I read into this post, the more I am validated in my thought that it's YOU who had poor security.

You understand that literally any of your accounts could have been stolen, right?

I simply wish you'd be as good with customer relations.

I'd argue that this 'survey' they give you STRENGTHENS customer relations. Atleast I know they wont just give it out to someone random who asks politely, and has some easy to fake evidence to back them.

I need that account back in my hands or gone for good, it has stored card and pay-pal information, along with connections to a lot of my real life friends.

Then just answer the questions to the best of your ability, or block the connection with payment services and League.

I am sure RIOT could verify which name was used on the account first, but pleasing a customer for once seems like too much effort for a billion dollar company.

I would say they go through more effort than just giving you the account. Effort that is worth it in my eyes.

All in all, this seems like it's just a product of your poor security measures.

It's insane to blame Riot for you inability to remember the questions, that most people reasonable can.

Contact the police.

Change passwords and use unique passwords for everything.

No one here can really help you.

Kaioko3/13/2018, 8:23:22 PM1 votes

Not to come off as rude, but a lot of the things you're complaining about are your own doing and not Riot's fault. If you can't verify some of the most basic information like your birth date, then there's no way for them to know if you truly are the owner of the account or not just making this all up.

Have you tried contacting riot and providing your credit card number for any payments you made? It would show it is you.Your id as well if you take a picture and fax it.
