Needs to be addressed

The ban system is horrible. So a few days ago on my main (minebug75) I was permanently banned for "toxicity". There is many reasons why this was out of the blue and uncalled for... To start, I haven't been playing this game for long and the only times I've been "toxic" is when I was CLEARLY messing around with friends (same clan tags, insulting each other friendly etc,) and I get banned without previous bans nor any kind of warning. In my opinion I believe the only permanant bans should be for hacking, and extreme cases of inting and or AFKing.Another problem with bans for toxicity is an example I have here, so I had a friend who had a great idea for chat filtering, he sent it to riot games and their response was pretty much just "use the mute button". If this logic persists can you not just mute "toxic" players? The logic behind this is just stupid, New chat filter? nah use the mute button, bans for toxicity? No mute button or chat block How about you get permanently bans W/O warning. I think they really need to change this system. Another issue is that "toxic" players like Tyler1 are banned, but players like Nicktron aren't? You might say that Nicktron just says it to his stream but does that really change anything? It's still toxic behavior.I have some personal issues I have had. I suffer from Bipolar and depression, League has really been the only fun thing for me, ever since I was banned nothing is really fun for me anymore, not expecting sympathy just putting it out there. If a riot member sees this I know they will say something like "toxic activity is not allowed" or something along those lines. (If there is any rioters feel free to message me) TL;DR Ban system needs a change

Intentionally ruining matches is certainly a problem as you say, but it is a lot harder to track than chat and does not excuse anyone else's toxic behavior; they are both wrong. You wouldn't expect the police to let a thief go because they were unable to capture a murderer, right?

If you are going to use potentially offensive chat with your friends, you shouldn't do it where it'll create a negative environment for the other players. I suggest using third party comms (like Skype) if you are not in a full premade; even if you are, if your friends report you you'll get flagged and potentially punished the same as if they were randoms, so keep that in mind.

Normally punishment follows a 4 tier system, escalating one step at a time each time you are punished, regardless of the offenses that trigger it; however, extremely abusive behavior such as the use of hate speech or making threats may result in skipping multiple steps. Regardless of who you are speaking to, you have to be mindful of the others that have to deal with it, and chat filters and muting is not an excuse to use excessive profanity.
