reporting players does not feel good. riot lets work together to stop the trolls

hello. i have often reported players who are griefing the team or the enemy team. i'm not sure where i'm going with this at the moment so please bear with me. league of legends is filled with trolls and salty players. it's almost single handedly inspired the word toxic to what it means today. think back a couple years, remember when you were almost afraid to say i play league because of how toxic it was. league of legends is notoriously filled with players set on winning. winning is nigh almost everything. and when someone feels betrayed by a teammate not giving his everything the odds are not fair. life isn't fair, but that doesn't mean a game shouldn't be "unfair" if you have a jax top running it down top only is that split pushing or is that griefing. if you have a jungler asking for help because he warded a entry point, spotted a enemy shivana coming to steal red, asks for help from teammates but no one comes not due to lane reasons but because they said "fuck you" is that griefing? what about the jungler now mad at the top lane running it down causing chaos for the team, causing the midlaner to get salty at their incessant argueing instead of playing the game now he's falling behind in lane because he's typing. so botlane joins in and says hey guys mute eachtother and play the game, you're 3/0 bot. its only 5mins in, you're feeling great you can carry you got this. they all reply stupid botlane braindead bot. this game is now stacked against you. it no longer feels 5v5. it feels 2v8. you report them after the game, but that salt is still there, the wounds are still fresh, the memories are present, and its all just pouring on. after game lobby you report them. but how am i as a player to trust riot that they are punished! i don't ever want players like that on my team again. i want players who want to win as bad as i do. to put aside our differences to quote zombieland "time to nut up and shut up" i feel riot has failed us on this part. i'm simply suppose to move on taking comfort in the fact that i reported them and hopefully riot takes notice and leavebuster cough cough gets them. but how am i suppose to know that, they could be out there right now ruining another game, ruining someone elses promotions. another thing why does this always occur during promotions. what time do most reports file in.

this is to you riot. reporting players does not feel good. something has to change. i'm tired of simply filing a report to hope to whatever god is out there (rito, phreak, faker) that they take pity on me so i can see a message saying a recent report of mine has basically worked.

maybe the tribunal should come back in some shape.

why are trolls allowed to play ranked with the rest of us trying to win.

why did riot allow us to report unskilled? (thats just more of a legitimate question than a complaint)

we as players need to figure out solutions together with riot and form a middle ground.

Inting or trolling in ranked is much worse than flaming/being toxic in my opinion,

at least u can mute someone to stop hearing their terrible attitude,

u cant physically stop them from walking mid and inting though.

i believe there is a worse issue at hand with players who dont care and troll or int but play ranked, as opposed to toxicity (which is also really bad)

delete in game chat and have ping system for talking similar to hearthstone.

I'm actually not sure their system works fine, or works at all. The intentional afk-er, troller and inter guy (29 deaths, no items) who ruined one of mine Odyssey games apparently hasn't been punished at all.

This kinda makes you feel "allowed" to do the same in some other people's games. Of course I don't, but someone else could. And this is not how a good company manages its own community, anyway.

when half the time u type directions and ur team just says stfu or fuck you, its kinda pointless.

but i do understand what you are saying, there is a tactical element to this game that we need to harness, but sometimes cannot due to players unwillingness to play the TEAM game.

This is a you problem. You have an unhealthy and abnormal desire to enjoy the punishment of others.

Reporting isn't about the justice for you. It's a flex of your proverbial muscle. It's you proving your horse is big.

That's a problem with your attitude, not one Riot will support, nor will virtually anyone else in life.

on the contrary, I love reporting people on my main, easy bans, get instant feedbacks all the time. The pure satisfaction of knowing they get banned is awesome, more satisfaction when you go on boards to read all the apes who cry about their perma trying to get it lifted.

Also the reverse troll technique is the best, its when you provoke someone on your team or enemy team by using emotes and dancing on them which in return will make them actually TYPE in the chat and rage, meanwhile you dont say anything and the more they type the easier the report,

i love it , its such a SOLID tactic, in this way you are provoking and getting someone banned<

Part of the reason i have that helpless feeling when reporting someone, is because i really dont know 100% that they were trolling. i dont shit talk, im a silent reporter. But in the back of mind, i know that i only witnessed a small portion of their gameplay, and it was BAD. Going off just the mistakes i saw, they were trolling. But what about the 90% of their game that i didnt see... maybe if i wasnt watching myself and jusr watched them the entire time, i would see that theyre trying... but they just suck. Also, when it looks like someone inted, theres almost always some low health enemy near by. In the players mind, they walked into that turret with the hopes that they would somehow pick up that kill, even though it would take a serious mistake from the enemy to get it.(like say if they jusr turned arouns for no reason and stood still lol).

Deep down, i can justify many of the mistakes made by these teammates who appear to be trolling or inting. Its just really bad play. But i report anyways, just in case Riot spots something that confirms the trolling.

reposted this from general discussion and ask the community because this is something that we need to be talking about.

i would like to update the post with something though. after failing my friend's promos to get him out of bronze, the very next game we played 5 hours later or something had the exact same issue. literally identical.

i almost want to quit league until this has been fixed.

Is it supposed to feel good when you report someone?

The purpose of reporting is to submit to the system that you believe someone's behavior is out of line.

You are the plaintiff, not the judge or the jury and certainly not the executioner. The system analyzes whether the player's behavior is acceptable or not, and also whether the player exhibits toxic behavior that is frequent enough and /or severe enough to warrant a punishment. There is a certain amount of leniency built into the system, which means that not all reports result in a punishment.

Your initial post is pretty vague. Are you asking for less leniency? Are you asking for more visibility?

I could support, for example, a display on your profile visible only to you of the count of reports you've submitted and the percentage of reports deemed valid by the system. I wouldn't, however, support reducing the leniency of the system because everyone has a bad game once in a while.

This smells to me like the usual silver player who's stuck in there because of their teammates

The Bunnÿ9/23/2018, 6:00:17 PM1 votes

Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this*[sg-lux-2]*

You're Silver 4. Most of your opponents were Silver 5 and Bronze 1 - 3 - so, what you described above is quite normal for this leagues. Simply put it - most summoners from those league are beginners - still struggling with the basics. They get tilted for being bad at the game (they don't understand why they die, what most champions can do or what they're suppose to do). Even more than that - they don't even understand what they're doing wrong (like - not helping the jg). If you manage to reach Silver 1 or Gold - you won't have to deal with some of those issues anymore. Tough, people will still get mad due to bad choices - or even worst - when they're being flamed by other players (that's usually the worst thing you can do - since they already feel bad for failing - so getting criticized for a past mistake - only adds more salt to their wounds). That's something you can see even in the highest leagues like Challenger.

The reasons for getting banned - seem to be already pretty strict. Yet, inefficient against the worst of the LoL community. Since most of the heavily toxic players got banned multiple times - and they got so used to the idea of making a new account - that now they're immune to bans (they can be as toxic as possible - while feeling untouchable). Even IP Bans can't solve that issue - cause they'll just hide their IP behind a VPN. Some even take pride in that and add it to their name (Banned X Times, xth Banned account).
