THE INTRODUCTION OF WOOD V

First off, it is my hopes that Riot will read through this post and take to heart the ideals being presented here as a way of "Protecting" the League Community from Toxicity and Cancerous players that clearly plague the game on a daily basis.

The Wood V League: The Wood V League will be specifically for players that have been reported, specifically in ranked games (normals/ARAM/Co-OP AI games will not count), excessively or for something seemingly outrageous. This system is NOT INTENDED to punish players @ Bronze V and have another pit for them to fall into. With this system a player will not be eligible to FALL from Bronze V into Wood V based on poor play. This system will ONLY EXCLUSIVELY be a punishment for "toxic" or "cancerous" players. A player of ANY TIER (challenger included) that is reported for any of the following but not limited to:

  • AFKing/Leaving Games
  • EXCESSIVE Negativity (bad mouthing teammates, blame-throwers, rude behavior, etc.)
  • Demeaning, Racist, Threats of death or emotional/bodily harm.
  • Intentional Feeding or Intentional Throwing of the game
  • Assisting the enemy team (Giving up positioning of players, wards, or future plans, poor builds (6 item 3070 , 6 item 1001 ) etc.)
  • Other offenses specifically listed by Riot Games INC themselves: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201752884-Reporting-a-Player

will be eligible for being placed into Wood V at ANY TIME during any part of any season since this systems inception, if accepted, including the off season. Unlike other players their rank WILL NEVER RESET. Even at the start of a new season, a Wood V player (account) will retain their rank and LP if they were placed into Wood V during the previous season or off season (but will not reset to 0LP). Wood V accounts will also be immune to decay. In order to get out of this league a player would have to win enough games to get to 100 LP similar to the other to the other Leagues, and then win the following promotional series. However, they will not get the "Free Wins" for returning to promos should they fall out, like the Bronze, Silver and Gold players receive now. This system is designed to punish these players and make sure they do not have an immediate chance to negatively affect the other players in the community, until they have "Earned" that privilege back. Also these players will be subject to a 7 Game promotional series (4 wins out of 7), to strictly help ensure they lose all taste for such "Toxic" behavior and hopefully deter them from ever returning to such negative behavior in the future. Players that are unsuccessful at being promoted out of Wood V at the end of a ranked season will get a "reward" for their lack of ability to change:

  • A Border with broken down decaying wood planks that also create an X shape over their champion in the loading screen of ALL game types (including bots).
  • A Wood V icon that will be barred from being changed even if a player has purchased/earned other icons in the past or future.
  • A profile trim of broken down decaying wood planks that also creates an profile (just the top half).
  • A custom invite screen that tags the player as being "potentially toxic/negative"

In summation, this system will hopefully help make the League of Legends community a better place. I do plan to make future changes to certain policies as time goes on. Those of you that have any questions or feel that there was something I've missed, please feel free to post your comments below, or ask me when you see me in game on my main account: Tylonious.

Thank you all for your time, and as always Good Luck Have Fun out there :-D!

Or they could just get banned, like the system does to them currently?

From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

"Why can't we put toxic players in a separate queue so that I don't have to deal with them?" (Prisoner's Island)

... because "L'enfer, c'est les autres"

Or if you prefer a less flippant answer:

[1] It has been considered and rejected by Riot: (link (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=24229104#post24229104))

[2] It bifurcates ranked play.

This would definitely not be usable in Ranked because it would split the ladder into two demographics and no longer be about the best players.

[3] It creates a cesspit.

In Normal Modes... there's a lot of potential discussion points that are just difficult to predict. For example, we know that toxic players tend to experience more toxicity because their teammates or opponents reciprocate their toxicity--that means on Prisoner's Island, the average game is going to be horrendously toxic to the point that the players might just quit (or create smurfs and wreck havoc on low level players).

[4] It creates potentially horrible experiences for new players (and non-toxic players, as well).

This idea would be akin to naming and shaming. There should be something done, and I think removing their ability to play ranked or something to similar effects would be acceptable but this just doesn't hit the nail on the head and would create more problems than it solves including creating a "prisoner island".

riot hates the idea of a prisoners island

I don't like the idea of flagging people period. It is doing what rot doesn't want to do.

This is such a bad idea. You're creating a prison division where only punished people are playing where in fact they should have been punished or even perm banned. Also, this division would be like a shame division where player will only laugh at you seeing this division. It's like wearing a sign on your neck saying ''Hey i'm toxic and I flame a lot but comme play with me''.

What does this change on normal games? They can still play and annoy people. this will never change.

So, public humiliation? I can think of several reasons why that's a bad idea.

EvilDustMan9/26/2016, 7:51:28 PM1 votes

No. It only causes people to resonate with each other.
