So I have played many games of normals where I start to feed so I get angry and turn off the sound do I don't hear anything, and after I do that I play about 10x better than I played before. Does anyone have an explanation for why that happens to me??

scientifically speaking, when you shut 1 sense, other sense will be heightened..... but who knows.

on a serious notes.

be careful.

in rank it is usually better to play with sound. (especially on high rank. a lot of time people will ping, and within 3 to 5 sec you will know a possible gank is coming. and where is it coming from. vice versa.)

That's called untilting. You could achieve the same thing by going afk or farming for a couple minutes.

I tend to listen to music when playing casually like in Normals. However, in ranked, I keep it off in order to avoid distractions and focus more on what's going on in-game.

Essentially, you are re-allocating your brain's resources in order to better play the game. Although some may be a bit more dependent on audio cues to react to situations, others, such as yourself, don't need sound as much. By cutting off the need for one of your five senses, your brain can focus even better on the visuals of the game and coordination with your hands.

Another reason could be irritation. Some people really hate hearing certain champion voices, like Yasuo's "Hasagi", Lulu's laugh, or just the sounds of the game in general. By not having to worry about this potential source of agitation, these people can play the game without such distractions.

I actually need the sound. Some sounds do piss me off, like quins HUUUUH, yasuos hasagi, ammu and fiddle stick everything, project yis Q, but in many cases sound helps me. Like for veigar its a bit easier to know whats going on, enemy MIAS its a bit easier. etc etc

When I play I tend to listen to music as well as with a conpetitive environment as this you need something you find relaxing to help keep balance! I don't usually have the sound off but low enough to hear while also not being intruded by my music!

sometimes you can hear thing you aren't seeing.

Like how someone recalls in a brush and you can hear it (likely a bug, and I'm never able to reproduce it), a key skill being used within fog of war to trigger some action / reaction in time ( twitch's hiding sounds).

But that being said, I sometimes do see better performance without sounds.
