To What Extent is Trash Talking Allowed?

Basically the title.

I looked up the limits for trash talking in LoL and it only came up with people saying that "Trash Talking isn't allowed" after being perma'd. I obviously know they all said something awful to be perma'd, but I would really like to know what can be said without getting banned.

I'll give an example of my last game, where as a jungler, I faced off against an enemy jgler 4 divisions above me, as he was duo'd with a gold midlaner.

"Imagine being outjg'd by a gold IV"

"Duo with plat jg and still loses"

Are the aforementioned phrases above allowed or do they violate the code?

Thanks!

Doesnt really matter what you say, just how much of it. If you so much as just type a lot in chat throughout the course of the game, even if you dont say anything bad, and then you get reported for it, you can get punished by the system. Don't believe me? Try it. It wont happen from 1 game, but doing it multiple times game after game, you will get punished if people report you.

The only insult you should ever need, is to call someone a dingleberry.

Ex: "C'mon, quit being a dingleberry and stop feeding."

  1. Trash Talk: Insulting or boastful speech intended to demoralize, intimidate, or humiliate someone, especially an opponent in an athletic contest.

  2. Banter: Talking or exchanging remarks in a good-humored teasing way.

The latter is allowed, the former isn't. Both of these feel like they're more on the trash talk side of the line, and so I'd recommend avoiding them.

It is as Djinn said. So its very vague and best to just avoid it. Granted, if you dont do it often, you can get away with pushing the boundary. There is a lot of leniency built in. You arent gonna get banned the first time you trash talk.

I usually just stick to built in emotes for trash talk. Outplay opponent, give em a naut bad and stand over them and flash a gravestone RIP.

honestly from recent years 0 . its considered toxic because its not positive. hell when i used to play i would tell people " muting team and pings gl hf gg" and i before i even mute the last one they are already demanding i get reported for being toxic and muting the team.

so really any thing is reportable.

its one of the reasons why i feel riot needs to remove the punishment for negative behavior

i feel they need to narrow it down to if you're being hateful cursing, death threats, rape threats and so on.. then yes i see those should be punishable for harassment.

but people getting punished for trash talk, frustration at trolls, and just being fed is another.

i mean honestly mute works both ways.. if you feel some one is being toxic you have just as much ability to mute them as they do to mute you .

Any form of rank shaming could be viewed as toxic. The only kind of trash talk I ever do is things like "?????" if an enemy tower dives or "rekt" if I feel I outplayed my opponent.

Just use sarcasm. If youre crushing in lane, use encouragment and positive reinforcement sarcastically.

“Wow, youre 0/6, keep trying, i believe in you!”
