Queue Dodging Punishments (Too Harsh?)

Blanko··6 votes·2,841 views

First of all, I am not ranting on the system because it had happened to me or a friend, (in fact it never did), but it just came to me as I read about the dodging punishments...

I am fully aware that the point of the dodge ban timer is so that you don't 'troll' and dodge every single game last second. However, let's put you in an average scenario which usually happens in Bronze-Gold ELO, you all get your lanes, but the last member on your team locks in Urgot mid, then he takes summoner spells like Cleanse and Smite. You have no other option but to either dodge or lose the game. Of course dodging would be more worth it because you only lose about 2LP, but what if you were in Promos, Provisionals, or have 0LP? It is unfair to derank all because a troll had, of course, trolled. On top of that, you have a 5 minute ban for dodging and have to waste precious time of your life waiting for that timer to end and re-ranking up only to find out that it happens again!

Again, I completely understand that the point of these punishments are to prevent you from doing it, but in situations like the above, it only makes the game less fun! What I would suggest is that players could have 1 free dodge per day or even week? And the players that dodge for the fun of making your queue a living hell get a greater punishment.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Discussion and hope you all have a great time on the rift! -Blanko

if hes going against strong cc cleanse is a good choice, smite does more damage than ignite i think.

LOL! You win… D; But I'm pretty sure smite does less damage because ignite does true damage. Otherwise IM LEAVING IGNITE AND GOIN' TO SMITE BABY

You have a very good point, on the other hand, the scenario that you mentioned is very, I mean very unlikely...

haha! just keep playing, try to play with friends if you can because it will definitely reduce the chance of trolls! though you DO rick getting a dynamic badge on your profile...

That was just an example, there are plenty of more scenarios that I could have mentioned, like saying he will troll or afk in chat, banning a champ never used in the current meta (ex: Galio ), and so much more that this list can probably go on forever!

I want harder punishments, got wasted 22 minutes in champ select by random internet smug yesterday until the match finally started. 1st dodge 1 day, second dodge 1 week ban

Blanko1 votes

1 day and 1 week seems 'pree harsh to me, if you don't say..? xD

Shloonz1 votes

I don't think it is harsh because he wasted like 10 minutes each, which is 90 minutes. so 15-20 minutes as punishment is too low

There is no punishment for dodging, and people who do dodge are usually just uninformed or too closed minded to believe anything faker hasn't played in the last two fucking months is viable. All you get for dodging unless you do it every game is low priority queue, or a very, very short suspension, that doesn't effect multiple accounts. Moral of the story... Dodging is scum, either have faith that someone who actually knows what they are doing is better than you, or git gud enough to carry. (or you know.. remember it's a game and one loss doesn't mean you have to commit seppuku) [slayer-jinx-unamused]

dodging games because of trolls in ranked or dodging because your team comp is horrible or dodging because your lee sin jungle has a 23% win rate out of like 100+ games are all 100% valid reasons to dodge. players shouldn't be punished for having good judgement and thinking critically in their ranked games. the game doesn't start when you spawn in the fountain, it starts in champ select.

You would waste far more of your time if dodge penalties were lower(they tried this before). It took forever to get a game started. People dodged left and right for every tiny thing. The LP is so incredibly insignificant. first of all, you can't get demoted from a dodge penalty. You will just goto negative LP. The promo loss is a little less significant but if you really belong at that next rank you just do it again.

What I would like to see is dodges tracked beyond each day. So instead of reseting everyday for everyone the guy who dodges that troll urgot once a month can be treated differently than the guy who dodges everyday because someone on his team didn't pick a top 3 champion in a given role.

And that exactly was what I wanted as explained in my last paragraph!

while before i need to wait for 30 mins just to actually get into game and got trolled by afks. u should uninstall the game for saying that :)

It's not only to prevent last second dodging, it's also so people don't get too picky about team compositions. It's, to some degree, to protect the integrity of the ranking system in a team-based game.

If I get one free dodge a day, why not wait with my promo game until I have a perfect team composition?

I agree. There should be no time delay or lp loss for simply waiting for a better chance to win.

We can deal with the hand we are dealt or we can forfeit and take the penalty. I think that's how the game works. The game starts after we click Play and when we accept the match.

Imagine how silly it would be to put your money in a game of poker and ask to have it back because your hand is bad. I don't play poker but does this make sense?

tacofacefart1 votes

well chances are you can fold without putting any money in a round of poker. also there arent any jokers (trolls) in a deck of cards.

I guess you got me. Can you help me think of a better example?

I would like to see some compensation for having to dodge. Its not my fault people didnt pick the champs I like, why should I have to then wait without having to be compensated? It would be like if you went to get your coffee and they messed up your order but still made you wait without giving you something in return.

League of Legends isn't messing up your order. The person who dodges is messing up your order. Your compensation is they won't be in your next game because of the dodge penalty.
